Thanks for that. If it corrects 99% of the issues then I may consider another RS.

But at the moment it's not even on the shortlist. 😔

@Pete The ACC and Travel Assist fixes are a couple of the things due in the June (3rd week) update, or so I was told by Skoda UK.

@TheWanderer I will most certainly be sharing experiences when I get my updated car back - hopefully ones of pure unadulterated joy…

Looking forward to a fix.  My previous superb with ACC had no issues.

I was updated to 1803 last week.  My car has travel assist and the car still randomly reads road signs in kph, tries to slow when overtaking while using ACC, and then swaps back to mph randomly.  Also, cannot set the headlights to driving on the left in settings.  Mine was built 18 Dec 2020.

Headlights on mine can be temporarily changed over to the left,  i.e. driving in the U.K. and Ireland. Once the ignition is off and all the electrics shuts down it reverts back to the RIGHT, i.e. driving in Europe.
To change them go to Vehicle settings, Headlights, Travel Mode.
On mine this is where it shows Driving on the right.

You need to press Driving on the right. This then brings up, Right-hand traffic and Left-hand traffic. The green dot is displayed on Right-hand traffic.
Do not select Left-hand traffic.
Instead select Right-hand traffic again.
Driving on the Right is then displayed again.
Select Driving on the right.
Right-hand traffic and Left- hand traffic are displayed again.
This time select Left-hand traffic.
Then Driving on the Left (U.K. & Ireland) is displayed.
You are now safe to drive around without blinding every other road user.
However, if you stop for fuel or go to the shop etc.. you have to do the whole routine again because it will have switched back to the Right.
If you forget to do it and just start driving you will have to pull over again because it will not allow you to change them to the Left whilst you are moving.
My car is in again this month to try and fix them. I’ve been told the new software it’s getting will sort out the problem.

So tomorrow's the big day. Car is booked in. Ready to have everything fixed and helpfully it's started the SOS failure problem tonight so they can fix that one too!

Please report software version of inf. system after the update on this theme..

Thank you..

Mine is also in today.

Let you know later.

I suppose if all problems are fixed I don’t have a decent case in rejecting the car??

Well matey, put it this way...

The first two times mine went back for inspection and software updates they claimed that they could not replicate any (that is ANY) of the issues I had been experiencing. Having seen via the mySkoda app how few times the car was ever even switched on while in their possession, I am inclined to believe that on a technicality...that they basically never checked it long enough to be able to replicate anything.

Then when it went back for the third time (before I had it rejected) they were still labouring under the impression they were going to fix this for me, but still at no point did they ever say to me they had replicated anything, and on the third visit the car wasn't even started once after they had moved it away from the customer parking area I had dumped it in.

So I would say go ahead and reject if you still want to reject. The dealer, at best/worst, can only say they have been unable to replicate the faults you are describing, at which point you simply ask if they are calling you a liar.

Honestly, when I first complained about mine, and when I subsequently rejected it, I put in writing a list as long as my arm of issues I had experienced, and they made no attempt whatsoever to systematically go through the list and check them.

So you guys are making me pessimistic but everything is working for now and it lasted the 1.4 mile drive home from the dealer.

Had a recall on the airbag control unit done also.

Software info screen below. lines 4&5 were "unknown" for me previously.

Someone save me a search through the manual please - what does the flag beside a road refer to? Right of the speed.

And when using Android auto does any of that information show on the virtual cockpit?

The road with the flag is Sport mode I believe.

Which info are you referring to when using android auto? You can get the phone signal and battery to show, directions from maps and media that's playing.

  • Author

Ahh yes, I did put it into sport mode when I found the mode selection button working.

Thanks for the virtual cockpit info. I didn't get a chance to play much - just wanted to know what was possible.

Got it back.

cruise control issue was dealer that I brought is from hadn’t activated it? But now works fine.

My MMI issues with steering wheel buttons not sometimes working and the “loading infotainment screen” fixed apparently on a update.

Had a issue with tracking but they have said it’s fine.

So now I have no leg to stand on to reject. Got Škoda uk ringing me back tomorrow.

Including myself, you're definitely at least the third person on the forum to report no CC after getting the car back from their dealer. Mine claimed that they had to reset the ECU to get it to work again.

Whatever the truth of it is, something with the CC has the potential to go wrong during software updates, so folks check your CC the second you pull off the forecourt !!

SOS has failed again. Bought this car to be reliable compared to the Qashqai....

Apparently a big software update coming in the next few weeks but earliest they can book me in is the 7th July.

Any way to reset it ourselves? Even if it doesn't last. E.g. with obd2 reader or the battery disconnect

The short answer is don't. If you attempt it and it "bricks" your car, you'll be saddled with any costs to rectify  the problem if it's recoverable or the full replacement costs of any ECU that may have been made inoperable/inoperative.

Yeah fair enough. Just got a long journey planned for tomorrow and was looking forward to it until now.

I'm on to the lease company and Skoda UK now. 4 weeks is too long.

Little update. Finally got my car in.

Tldr; my phone is not compatible

Yes, they are saying that my wife and my Honor android phone is causing the SOS error.

Feel free to listen to their health check video

https://video.citnow.com/vtV2YM7fHXX

Any chance they are correct. Only tend to connect my phone on long trips.

Mine was in the garage last week with SOS errors, they’ve ordered a new SOS unit.

Can they give detail of why they think the phone is related? It’s not much of a safety feature if a mobile phone can cause it to fail, sounds like BS to me, and even if it were true it would be an issue for them to resolve not the users issue.

If you want to indulge them take the car out without the phone (or turned off) and see if the error occurs.

Honor/Huawei phones might be problematic, because Google/China issues. They used to have problems for a long time. I would not be surprised.

You say that but even so called well supported brands like Samsung have quite a few issues with connectivity to cars.

That's true, android auto has quite a few issues, but it's even worse with barely supported Chinese brands.
