Oil and Coolant advice

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

New to the Skoda brand, having just bought a 67 plate petrol auto VRS. For my sins, previous car was a Peugeot RCZ :blush.

Car was bought from an independent dealer and serviced by them in December 2020 with oil renewed, although no idea what they put in.

If needed could I top up with Total 0W-30 Ineo First that I had with the Peugeot?

I'm planning on getting a service with Skoda towards the end of the year, the previous service from them was done in 2019 on a long life, but that oil would have been renewed since then.

Anyone recommend what oil and coolant I can top up with please until the Skoda service in 6 months?

Thanks everyone

Yes. Simple....an oil that meet VW504/507 specifications. Known within Skoda circles as Longlife 3 FE oil. 0W30 is a good oil to work with but it is all to do with the additives in the oil.

Thanks both for the replies, greatly appreciate it.

So am I safe to top up the unknown oil with the 0w30 if I needed to?

I would.

Coolant wise I believe it's the pink stuff...VAG G13

G12, G13 and G12++/evo coolants are all compatible. Check for silicate bag in coolant expansion tank, advisable to remove if possible - or replace tank.

You've got the can. Does it quote a VAG 500 series oil specification?

Checked today and it's only for PSA motors, no mention of VAG so no good.

Any recommendations for oil please, having searched the forum Quantum keeps cropping up?

Thanks again

Really depends on your budget.  I would go for a good branded oil - such as Castrol/Shell or even Skoda's own oil.

Typically prices are between £50 to £70 for 5 litres of oil (although I notice that EuroCarParts are doing 70% off this weekend), might I also recommend you go and visit theskodashop.co.uk if you are planning to do a service yourself - £135 get your a major service kit for your VRS Petrol. https://www.theskodashop.co.uk/products/skoda-service-major-service?_pos=2&_sid=87487b8f5&_ss=r

Hi Erroll, I can suggest Fuchs Titan Pro C3, 5W30. Meets VW 504/507 spec, less than £28 for 5 litres, free delivery from supplier on a large online site.
