  1. Has the main stealer scanned your car for DTCs - if so what are they? I don't know how the immobiliser operation is tested, but I imagine it would require looking at live data with a scan device via the OBD port.
  2. Hello, welcome to the forum. Engine starting, then stopping within a short time sounds like an engine immobiliser issue to me - possibly reinforced by the 'Safe' being displayed on the instrument cluster. Has immobiliser been checked?
  3. I'd suggest checking the data displayed for number of satellites received to see if the actual problem is a GPS antenna issue - or caused by external spoofing. On the MIB2, this data is displayed when the display is in split-screen mode.
  4. Added note for radio antenna.
  5. ^^^ Certainly recommend having the battery properly load tested.
  6. Don't forget you need to toggle between the 'Inspection' and the 'Oil Service' resets if you want to reset both.
  7. I'd disagree, the oil level should never be allowed to be significantly above the Max. line on the dipstick.
  8. In my experience, burned electronics have a distinctive and very different smell to oil.
  9. Most likely just a slightly over sensitive oil level sensor. At least these two examples tend to suggest that they're erring on the safe side - but I maintain there's no substitute for regular physical checks of all fluid levels.
  10. The service/oil service reset can be a little 'fiddly' on the Mk3, so could be similar on Mk2 - I've found both our Fabia and Octavia to take several attempts to reset the reminders - I think it's a just knack of getting the odo switch press timing sequence exactly right.
  11. What I want to know is where you're getting a pint for the cost of a couple of 2032s! 🤣
  12. Try VAS Technical, Ashtead, Surrey. 198 Burntwood Lane, KT21 2DB. Phone 01372 940576. I used to use them for servicing both our cars when they were based in Surbiton, but have only used once or twice after they moved to Ashtead - I found another good garage much nearer to me a couple of years ago.
  13. Do the mirrors fold when you switch to that mode manually? Probably what has happened is the tickbox (fold on locking) in the infotainment menu has been unticked (default setting) when the update was done.
  14. I definitely would not recommend you drive the vehicle while fuel was being sprayed around in engine bay. Diesel has a pretty low flashpoint (52-55deg.C) - and a lower autoignition point than petrol!
  15. Check that the window guide channels are clear, it sounds like the motor sensor is detecting unusual resistance and activating the window anti-trap mode.
  16. Does your mirror control switch have the fold symbol on it?
  17. Does the warning indicator stay off if you top up the oil to the Max. mark? If so, just keep the level at that, as it's possibly not worth the expense of replacing the sensor.
  18. Opening the hood will temporarily cancel the low oil warning even if nothing is added. You say oil level 'seems fine' but whereabouts between the dipstick marks is it? If the warnings persists while oil level is fully at the max. level mark. it is probably a faulty sensor. Good practice to regularly check all fluid levels manually - not rely on warning indicators.
  19. I ran a mock quote for chains, belts, tensioners/idlers and water pumps on a 2010 3.6L R36 on ClickMechanic - price inc. vat came to just over £1600. Is Ashtead within your reach? You could try getting a quote from Vagtek.
  20. Welcome to the forum. 4K! Sounds far too high to me - I'd have thought less than 1/2 that depending on what other ancillaries you're wanting replaced. How many estimates have you had?
  21. How about trying the direct approach with your insurance company? Send them two images of your vehicle, 1 of the VIN plate, the 2nd of your rear axle as proof it is 2WD only.
  22. It sounds as if you may have a parasitic drain issue, is your infotainment system original? Can be a bit of a lengthy process of elimination to find which module is not going into sleep mode. The voltage variation you mention is normal - the smart alternator is designed to do this to allow for energy recuperation under deceleration and/or braking.
  23. Welcome to the forum. There may be a third option to consider if they are available for a Superb - air shocks.
  24. Do you have ACC?
  25. If the ADAS camera is mounted in the mirror frame it will almost certainly require recalibration.
