There is a school of thought that if the car is properly serviced and everything fixed at 3 years then starting the extended warranty immediately is a waste of money as shouldn’t go wrong for a while, thus deferring the start few months could save money, but of course it’s gambling that something unforeseen won’t fail.

Like the ropey old DQ200 DSG box at £5k+ a pop 🙂

However if it fails then the DVLA database (and police ANPR) will show it as no valid MOT even though original one hasn’t run out.    But at least it gives time to get any warranty work done before third anniversary.

Driving a vehicle that’s failed

You can take your vehicle away if:

  • your current MOT certificate is still valid
  • no ‘dangerous’ problems were listed in the MOT

Otherwise, you’ll need to get it repaired before you can drive.

is a mis-aligned LED headlight classed as "Dangerous" if its "too high" or a seat that reclines 1-2" when you fidget in it heavily or drive it for more than an hour or two??

Just for info, the "all in", warranty & servicing package is now available until the 02/12/24 with £200 off. So it's now at £695 for two years.

Not that I can take advantage of this offer, my 3 year date is 3rd March next but if you timed it tightly can you get the 3rd year (expensive) service included in this deal?

I see in the Ts&Cs the service record has to be up to date and you can’t apply until the vehicle is 3 years old - so I suspect I’d be liable for the expensive service and get 2 cheaper ones included in the deal?

It is, but I would consider the £29.00 a month route instead - I think this is the safer/more flexible option as some owners have been caught out if they sell/trade car in and have already paid the whole lot up front  - see

Yes I'd pay monthly, too, interest free. I was just pointing it out that it was £200 cheaper at the moment. I'll probably take up their offer. As my years Skoda extended warranty runs out in Jan, my car is 6 next year. I took this out on my previous Octavia, cancelled it half way through to buy my current estate. I wasn't charged an excessive amount either for breaking my contract, just paid for what I'd already used.

From what I've read it's for cars aged 3 to 6, up to 100k on the clock. One minor & one major service inc plugs if you have a petrol car.

So - I bought my Karoq back in Jan and it came with 1 year of warranty/breakdown etc under their all-in plan.  I've since applied a private plate onto the car and when went to check to see if I could get this new 2 year plan under the cheaper price (so I could extend the warranty for another 2 years), it allowed me to do so.  I have a feeling they haven't linked the plate change to the current service plan, which is why it's allowing me to take out a new plan (even though the current one lasts for another 2 months).  Do you reckon they will catch onto this, or just allow it?  I've been able to progress up to the point of entering my DD details, so I'm guessing not!  I'm hoping that when I next take it for a service, the old plan would have expired and the new plan would be in place.

Interesting. How 'old' is the private plate? I have a an 'N' reg plate (1995 year) on my Karoq, sounds as though that would make mine over 6 years old despite it really being 14 months old. I have a 2 year service plan so hopefully the All-in plan will still be around in 2 years time.

So it turns out I was slightly incorrect - all I could purchase was a service plan, not the all-in-one plan (so I'm slightly disappointed!).  The private plate isn't year dated.

I don;t know how much jiggery pokery was involved but we got All In on our Tiguan when it was just coming up to 6yrs old.  The car had an exteneded warranty until the day before its 6th birthday which at the time I was being told couldn't be cancelled, and the car had to have an inspection to go on All In (they dropped that after a couple of years). so the dealer booked it in for All In inspection, MOT and service the day before it was 6 and did it all on the All In plan.    I wasn't sure it was going to work, but they were completely laid back about it, and it worked fine (at least, as far as I was concerned).

Mind you the "additional Items" bill on that service for a/c, brake fluid and haldex weren't far off as much as a service would have cost.  I felt obliged to have them as they'd done them all FOC when the car was 3yrs old due to a mix-up and having to go back to get them done.

Ok an update I have had my car checked by Skoda today and it is has been accepted for this scheme. Just FYI it takes about 2 hours to get it checked, they do a full inspection, road test and run diagnostics.

You can cancel in 14 days and after that if you need to end the policy you can but any money taken is lost and at the moment you cancel you lose all benefits.

You can also transfer the scheme if you sell the car to a new owner but you have to fully pay up the policy and then provide them the new owners details. The policy cannot be transferred to another vehicle.

I have scoured the text and can see no excess on the warranty claims so there does not appear to be any excess to pay if you make a warranty claim. That makes the warranty around £400 of value.

So might be worth it for some folk Sportzfy App?
