Boot liner question

Featured Replies

1. I am considering purchasing the Skoda double sided boot mat thing but the accessories brochure indicates it is only as part of a pack and it is for fixed seats, but is there a varioflex version and can it be bought as a standalone item? They also list a more expensive plastic boot dish but it doesn't say whether it is varioflex compatible or not - anyone has any thoughts who has either of these and are there better or cheaper variations online? Finally, they also show a boot liner as part of the pet protection pack - not sure if this is one of the two mentioned above or a different one and is that also available as a standalone item!

Advice appreciated

Re 1.  The central seat belt uses both seat buckles, nothing to do with LHD/RHD. It comes down from the roof and connects the two buckles to form the lap and diagonal.  That's the best I can do to describe it.

Best read the owner's manual.

Thanks. I’ve now edited the original post to remove q1 as I realise how obvious it is now  you’ve made it clear to me!

I've decided to buy something less heavy duty, but more practical and easier to store - https://www.amazon.se/gp/product/B00VSWN682/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I am not sure what the name of the material is or the actual purpose, but it folds to a small volume and I can keep it in the side pocket in the boot. Its only purpose is to protect the boot or seats from dirt and mud or to cover the dashboard if the car sits in the sun when it is really hot outside. It seems durable enough, but not as much as a real rubber liner of course.

I suspect that there was a pricing error when I bought it, because its current prise is 10 times higher compared to when I bought it few months ago (back then it was 12 SEK which is roughly 1 GBP :D)

Does your car have the varioflex seats as mentioned by the OP?

Yeah it's the SEL with Varioflex, pic shows liner in the boot.

Me too CJJE .  Its a bit of a chore to cut and fit nicely (initailly) compared to a custom fit one but its been faultless since - all for less than £10

Doesn't smell once its gassed (a few days).

I found I needed a few strips of velcro attached to the mat and the floor of the boot to make it really snug and I also cut a small slot for the boot floor handle.  Completely stopped things sliding around in the boot (which I found to be a real problem).

I bought this from Amazon Sakura Black Rubber Boot Mat SS5125 - Protects Your Vehicle Carpet - 120 x 80 cm - Fits All Cars - Trim-To-Fit : Amazon.co.uk: Automotive and cut it down to size for my Sportline. My car doesn't have the VarioFlex seats, but you can measure your boot to make sure it fits.

It's easy to cut down to size, and lies flat once it's warmed up after transit (it comes rolled up).

The disadvantage of that Amazon Sakura mat is it can't stop any fluids reaching underneath - the Skoda mat and the Bootliners copy have raised sides.

How can anyone describe a rubber boot mat as a boot liner? Surely a liner implies protection for the  back of the rear seats and the sides of the boot.

I've got rubber mats in the footwells nobody is calling them footwell liners!

Fair point.  My use scenario was to stop the sliding.  If I had liquids I agree that a "cupped" liner is best :-)
