Bought a Volvo "in stock" car

XC60, by any chance? Usual Volvo discount, or are they being a bit mean with everything going on?

Don't blame you, by the way...

  • Well, after a 7 month wait, I picked up my Sportline facelift today. All options present, including Canton, and the electric child locks with the family pack.

My car has been built and is on it's way.

Looks like the 2 week shutdown was designed to finish off partially built cars.

Got £4K off which is really good at this moment in time. Love Skoda but this on on the next level. Had to take a FWD

That’s really not bad at all…

Really…? I took an XC60 out for a few hours and found it cramped in comparison. Can’t say the quality was much better either. Don’t get me wrong, they’re lovely cars to look at and it was nice to drive… I’m just not sure I’d say it was on a level above recent Skodas.

Shhhh!

No you are right, the Volvo's, and pretty much any other car is way better than a Skoda!  :)

The last thing we need are people realising this and pushing up the prices of Skodas!  :D

It's a bit late for that!

I remember when people were in shock about the original Kodiaq VRS costing over £40k, and that was only a few years ago. Now you can easily spend over £50k on the top spec Kodiaqs or Enyaqs...

I arrived at my current Kodiaq by testing/researching a lot of cars.   I was fortunate for the purchase price not to be an issue (provided it wasn't a Bentley!) so was able to test the cars for what they were/were able to do.

Ultimately I was looking for a Petrol SUV that was large/powerful enough for my needs without going over the top.

I decided that  "full sized" SUVs were too big for me (at the moment) and therefore Q7,X5,V90 etc were out.

It was the VAG group of cars   Kodiaq/Tiguan/Taracco with the 1.5 engine that suited me (although I nearly went for a Sorento).

Of those 3 the Kodiaq offered more space/better equipment (imo)/ and was better built.    It was a no brainer.

The Q5/V60/X3 are all smaller cars and therefore never came into the decision.

Ordered the vRS back in early July

Factory confirmed in late July.

Phone call early september to say they can't do the electronic child lock, do we want to continue without or wait until late 2022... We'll continue without.

Been told it's got an unconfirmed build week of 43.

Latest update is that it's still not in build....

So i guess it'll be 2022 anyway then 😞

(Just too late to avoid the expensive 4x4 and DSG service on the part/ex Superb)

I'm new to the group but been following for the past few months with interest.  Hearing peoples views on how they decided on a Kodiaq (or not as the case maybe for some) and also progress on orders has been interesting.

My Kodiaq 2.0 TSi Sportline order was placed in June via an agent that supports NHS staff.  So far, no build date has been given although with the factory re-opening I've been told they hope I will get one in the next few weeks.  Spec'ing the car to high heaven probably didn't help but at the time there was no semiconductor issue.

Initially told a September delivery, but had hope for a pre-Xmas delivery.  I'm now hopeful for a mid-2022 delivery.

I wish those waiting all the best and look forward to hearing when your order arrives.  Keep the updates coming as although I've leased 2x Karoq's in the past 3 and 1/2 years and own an e-Golf (wife's car), your knowledge is very helpful and informative.

I'd be 'negotiating' with your dealer on that one... your Superb will have gone up in value since you agreed the p/x in July.

That's what I did, and I got more cash out of him for my old Kodiaq - we took the agreed p/x figure from July, took the value now, and split the difference (on the basis that if I did the deal now, I'd not get the discount they gave me on the new one).

That's another cause for anxiety, they said they wouldn't price the p/ex until handover day as it's too far away to be fair....

Hopefully that'll work in my favor - unless other cars start shipping and the used prices fall before then 😞

That was a "slight" concern of mine too.

Personally I think it will be March/April before we see any softening of used car prices, and that's not guaranteed.

anyone else who had a unconfirmed build week before that radio silence do you still have a unconfirmed build week? mine was week 49 then chat went down back up contacted dealer error on order all sorted there and then but now dont have a build week of any sort

I don't have even "Unconfirmed week". Ordered in June.

i wouldnt have bothered asking tbf given i know people like yourself have nothing but from August and september i had an unconfirmed build week of 49 which is nearing but told i don't now have that. Surely they must be able to give some sort of indication now

All I’ve been getting in my fortnightly email updates from the dealer since mine supposedly went into production mid August is “Delayed “.

No indication’s if it might appear this year or next.

There really does seem to be no logic to the deliveries.  Looks like it's pot luck depending on the spec.

I'm told mine should be with me in 3 weeks or so, but until I actually see the car in the correct spec that I ordered I am far from optimistic.

If that's the case, then surely it should be built and awaiting transport... can the dealer not confirm that much, at least?

Yes they have confirmed that.

However, part of me thinks that they might not have added all the extra's I requested.  We will see.

I had the exact same thoughts before I went and collected mine...

Mmm, wonder if Skoda UK have been looking on here, just received this email..

I just had this too. I wonder how accurate "still in production" is? Does it mean it's actually on the production line, or does it mean anything that is ordered and not yet delivered?

Hmm If my car does arrive in the next few weeks I will consider myself lucky then.

Looks like used prices are going to be high until next summer at this rate.

From what I’ve been told my Kodiaq went into production week starting 16/8 and is probably built and been transported to the airfield/ parking lot awaiting parts to continue build. It’s probably in here somewhere..

Unfortunately many cars are started on the production line, and then, due to parts shortages they are bunkered, some on an airfield. So your car may not be 'on the production line' but sitting unfinished.
