Electric windows not working

Featured Replies

The windows played up the weekend removing fuses and the connectors by door made no difference.

But soon as I unplugged from the module several times it re started so this module has a problem somewhere.

Sorry to resurrect an old post but your symptoms are similar to mine, did it happens after a battery change or anything?

I smashed the **** out of my sump on a country road in Oxfordshire on Xmas eve and only just got the parts in yesterday. When I put it all back together the battery was dead, I had to jump start the girl. Now my windows don't work but everything else is mint 😂 I had them faulty last summer and fixed then with a broken cable and fuse 11 but now everything I checked is mint 😂

@Xhuy10nx have you tried resynchronising the windows as per the Owners Manual and fully recharged the battery rather than just a fast or quick charge or just driving the car to sort the battery.

Cheers for that, now I know my door switch isn't working too 😂😂😂 I presume I must have an additional split cable or fuse I need to check. Back to the drawing board but thanks anyway 😂

If both of the windows don't open when the key is held in the unlock position (with door previously shut and locked) I'd say you may well need a repair to the driver's side motor module. Pop round with door card off and try a known good one 🙂

I fixed the window problem I must of forgot to post back on here.

I checked the loom in front of the gearbox there was 1 or 2 wires broken frayed against the gearbox. So I cut the wires and re joined with a wiring block then insulation tape over it. I then had spare pipe insulation for copper pipes on a house. I cut a small piece of this and put it around the connection to keep it cover more and to stop it rubbing against the gear box.

This fixed the window problems and it also solved the charging problem now charges at 14.5v it used to jump about before.

It' been 5 months and the charging and windows work fine now.

Thanks for the help all down to these small wires in front of the gearbox.

Hi there, I know this subject has been covered so so many times but nobody seems to be saying what I am so I'm posting a new one looking for help.

Power windows stopped working on my Skoda fabia MK1 2005 months ago and finally getting fed up, I've replaced drivers motor and window switch already with no joy, the windows work for 10-15mins when I disconnect battery or connector to the motor, also works if I unlock the car with the key in the door yet doesn't work if I just unlock with the button on the key (odd as hell) I've also checked between the door and a frame all seems ok.

Looking some advance on what to check next as I've had a look at CCU etc but no visible issues and the fact it works when reset shows me the motors work fine aswell as the window guides etc, it just stops working after a short drive which means I have to reset it to put the windows up.

Ive read probably every forum I could find and have check anything I've been told to so this is the first time I've ever posted to forums. Appreciate any advice.

Hi Hardcore! Did you solve the problem? Facing same 10min issue in the passenger windows when driver windows is disconnected.  If I connect the driver windows motor 6Q to the cable, passenger window motor stop working suddenly! It seems the problem is in the driver windows motor... I changed the confort module 6Q2937049F (Siemens 5WK4 8218) but no improvement...

It's just the fact it works when reset, to me that means wiring is fine as it does work it goes up and down, it just cuts out after 10 mins, using my work brain if it was an AC unit that works but stops after awhile I wouldn't be looking at a power issue (90% of the time anyway) usually it ends up being something unrelated to power, just have a feeling it's software or at the very least something wrong with the circuit board but could be wrong of course.

Have your concern solved.

I had a similar problem on my 2007 MK1 Fabia and eventually traced it to a loose-ish multi-plug to the door switch pack. Zip tie cured it for last 5 years.

My concern is solved, found one of the control unit on door was found faulty.
