Yes it had to go in correct as there is the bolt tag on the strut so had to be in deep enough for the bolt to locate I just dont understand why its so high makes no sense will do a pic to show you the extra height.

A Dremel will split the nut easily enough if you don't have a grinder.

Hi all just an update, So did all the suspension work all went back together well bit of a pia holding the shocks up by yourself while you maneuver the hub back into place lol but all done now only issue I seem to have is the front end seems to sit much higher than it used to by like maybe a good 3 inches or so.

When I took the originals off I put a new one against an old one and length was all the same so im at a loss as to why its sitting so high now any thoughts please ???

New what? Road spring , suspension strut or both?

I replaced everything mate struts, springs, track rod end, ball joints and anti roll bar links.

I was thinking about what you said I had it all stripped down but only measured the new strut against the old not the springs as i had ordered from a part number and it came up as correct, could it be the springs to long ???

  • Author

I ordered everything from autodoc and the details for each part confirmed and brought up my car I just checked them on there again and they all say correct for my car.

only thing that could be incorrect are the springs as if it was for a diesel you might get a lift due to less weight from a petrol engine

Is this on a 1.4mpi? Why are the springs orange, are they some kind of sporty ones?

  • Author

Yeah i see where your coming from when I got the springs they did seem thicker than the original but if im honest I assumed it was more modern spring type compared to the 20 year old ones so never thought anything of it.

Lol tmb no thats me sorry I coated them thats all they are meant to be standard springs.

worst p[art is the tat man took all the old parts for scrap a few days ago :(

Pain to send stuff back when it comes from Berlin or wherever autodoc ship from.

Still got the old springs? Do they have a row of paint marks on them? If so, what is the colour sequence?

Edit, guess not then. Got any photos that show the paint marks?

Ah, OK. I agree with others that it can only be the springs causing it. Your headlamp alignment might be too high now too.

wow thats a pia cant drive it got to strip it all back down try and replace springs and worst part is getting springs off and putting new ones on again with those stupid spring compressors gutted.

do you guys have another part number for front springs please or correct length etc ???

Autodoc description says SKODA Fabia I Hatchback (6Y2) (Year of Construction 08.1999 - 03.2008, 50 - 130 PS, Diesel, Petrol)

So the description says its the same spring for petrol or diesel but im assuming now from what you guys have said that its incorrect.

What brand springs are they and do you have their part number?

STARK Coil Spring Front Axle

Article number: SKCS-0040037

So much for tony starks tech lol.

That number comes up as Skoda cross reference 6Q0411105AA

On ETKA they come up as ''models with heavy duty suspension''.

Well it's not your fault if the listing is wrong. I feel gutted for you as I know how much hard work it is, especially in this hot weather.

I fitted Kilen branded ones on mine and they are fine.

Kilen or Lesjofors (the same company), its a shame you dont have the paint spot colour code from your original springs but its very unlikely they will have been heavy duty ones for the rough road package.

I fitted those to the rears of my Octavias because they would get abused towing far too heavy loads with far too much nose weight and the vehicle overloaded, when new they looked as jacked up as yours does.

I fitted new rear springs to my Yeti and chose like for like by using the colour code, the ones that I got were tha same part number that I fitted to the Octavia 2, that looked really jacked up, the Yeti is as standard as its a 4x4 "Outdoor" version.

Carlson or might be Carlston is the real expert on here for the vehicle springs and part numbers.
