Xenon level sensors problem

Featured Replies

Just wondering if my rear sensor is missing or faulty. (Lights upgraded before I bought the car)

Headlights normally Bob up and down on start up, loading the car up with camping stuff, I got flashed / blinded people driving back.  Low beams were very high, is it a sensor that you can test with multimeter?

What do I need to check before finding someone with a expensive computer... anyone recommend anyone near Thame

This rings alarm bells for me; specifically that the level sensor may not have been installed by the "upgrader".

As above. What model is the Octavia? L&K, Elgeance, etc. The superb also come with xenons, but I'm not sure on their specs/trim levels.

If they've been retrofitted, it will most likely not be done right, as it's quite involved to get it retrofitted. Most, will simply buy the lights and have an adaptor harness to connect them.

L&K will come standard with them, and it will also have the 5.5L washer bottle, headlight washers, no level button above the highlight switch (it will be a single roll button to control illumination) and will have the level units on the front of the lower control arm and also one on the rear suspension unit.

It''s a superb elegance.  63 Reg,  I've got the original headlights should all else fail, I'm just guessing it's not a 5 minute job to swap them back..

It's got the headlight washers that are fitted and working. Not sure what size washer bottle.

Is this the head light level sensor on the rear wishbone? Strangely I expected it to be new and shiny.. It doesn't look like it's recently been installed.

Guessing If I undo the linkage I should be able to manually move the arm up and down and see the headlight move up and down?

Assuming nothing happens when I move the arm up and down.  Next step will be to remove the sensor, can I check it with a multimeter or oscilloscope?

You really need to get it connected to VCDS and do the basic settings, with the car correctly ballasted, you put the system into "level/adjust mode" and then adjust the beam settings.

Those sensors and the general install look OEM

What do you mean by upgraded? The car came with AFS2 from the factory, which is about as good as it gets in headlights at the time. I'd start by having a closer look at this 'upgrade'.

If you have VCDS, a fault scan of the BCM and AFS controllers would be a good idea too.
