which company?

I was with Autogroup which I've had for 6 months.  They offered me a similar offering.  They've been ok as they covered my battery and water pump housing - they decrease the water pump claim as they said it was only covering the housing!

All done through Skoda so no idea who underwrites it. I took out the extra 2 years when I purchased the car which saved me around a grand then this one in year 6. It looks like next year it may be around £430 with a £250 excess or £730 with zero excess unless I get an offer for having it this year.... Either way i'm well in front..

Tailgate sorted today great to have it back !

  • 1 year later...

Sorry for the thread resurrection -

The boot hatch / tailgate on my Superb mk3 (2016) is still working, although it does produce error beeps sometimes which requires you to physically force the boot to close (by pushing it). The problem hasn't been persistent enough to warrant replacement of any parts - but if it gets worse then we might have to.

Here's to another few years of ignoring the problem 😄

I’m not sure it’s a good idea to wait tbh. The last thing you want, is for it to completely fail and you can’t close it (or open it for that matter!) in the ikea car park!
Since we’ve had the car, compared to those on other owners Superbs, Golfs and Octavia, the struts creek and squeal like an unlubed front ARB, both going up and down. The dealer wouldn’t change them though, as they operate fine.

(Sorry, deleted this text- I've put it in the Superb section by mistake)

So my 2018 Superb L&K tailgate will not open or close anymore. It beeps 3 times. When the lid is closed and I try to open it with the remote control, it rises up to a maximum of 20 cm.

OBD11 gives an error message: Hall sensor in motor 1 for rear hatch - B121115

As far as I've briefly looked into the subject at the moment, it's possible that one of the wires is broken, so it's worth checking before buying new ones.

If you were to buy new ones, which manufacturer's product did you choose? I'd leave out OE, I don't see any reason to pay so much.

The new ones should be quiet and smooth! :)

Atm I'm looking at Stabilus 427627 - It is more expensive than other manufacturers, but it should be premium.

Just fix the wiring in the strut

Took the strut off and the blue wire is broken...I hop this is the issue. Going to solder it. Will post the result.

Yeah that’ll do it.

Dont forget the Basic Setting

Don’t need to

Update: I contacted an electronics specialist who repaired the broken cable. Then I reconnected it and it works again. Total cost 35€ - could have been cheaper, but I wanted to get it fixed today.

Really happy now D

People jump to the conclusion you need to change the full strut when it’s just a wire. Bet you’re glad you posted and saved yourself some money 😅

At my last customer, yellow and blue were broken, it was no longer possible without basic adjustment

It is. No basic settings are required 😂

what don't you understand about it?

Think it’s you that doesn’t understand 😂😂😂😂

It's nice if you say no basic is needed. That helps vehicles where the wires have been repaired, but not if the tailgate no longer opens and closes automatically and the control unit reports the error message "no basic setting." But apparently you know better. With that in mind, I wish you a nice evening.
