Can I activate the daytime running lights to include the parking lights as well, with VCDS? Octavia mk2 fl MY2011

Featured Replies

Hello everyone.

Might there be a way to activate the parking lights and daytime running lights at the same time with VCDS?

I have a Mk2 FL Octavia MY2011. I have daytime running lights and would like the parking lights to be on as well when the lights are on the "0" switch. It wouldn't bother me if the tail lights would go on as well, if there's no way for the front parking lights to light up individually.

Is this not the same as having the sidelights on?

If you want each side to individually be on then press the indicator whichever way when leaving the car.

Sorry If I haven't worded it properly. Basically, I want the parking (position) lights and the daytime running lights to be on at the same time when the light switch is on "0".
I got this photo off of google to better illustrate if I'm not explaining it well enough. I want the circled parts to be on at the same time.

It's certainly possible as I tweaked my MK2 to do the same - you can do it with or without the rear lights being on.

However, it's not something VCDS can do. You'll need something that can tweak the BCM EEPROM such as VCP or ODIS-e and someone who understand the lighting configuration section :)

Ah that's a shame, I have a VCDS cable and thought it could be a quick workaround.

Nevertheless thanks a lot for the reply. I couldn't find this info anywhere on the internet.

Actually on the mk2 vrs they need physically wiring in as the wiring isn't present in the cars loom.

While that is correct, I don't believe the op has a vrs nor has one been mentioned 👍

Yes I really should pay better attention to the actual post.

Regarding your first reply, do you think I could give it a try with VCP? Are you aware of any blogs I could read more? Or should I leave it to the more professional people?

VCP can extract the lighting configuration as a bcm1 file.

You can then tweak it with vaghelper https://skodapilot.com/vaghelper/?lang=en

Then use VCP to upload them new dataset.

It's not hard, just make sure you keep a back up of your official config 😉

Hi mate, can you elaborate on this for me please? I want to do similar but have parking bulbs activated on the main switch at the parking light settings while leaving the DRLs turning on with the ignition. Do you know how this would work out?
