If your Fabia is on Fixed servicing intervals you don't need a reader to reset the service interval.

Thanks, AG Falco

Why bother, it's just a reminder, if you're getting it done next week what's the problem.

A fault code scanner or scan tool can tell you very little or a great deal, it's as much about the operator as the tool, don't just go on error codes in themselves, computers are very stupid in many ways and are easily confused.

The service warning in modern cars is very tame in my experience, my old 2000 VW Passat 4Motion was not, it used to drive me mad as I had it set for 12 months, I used to have this fixation to log all service stats so was never willing to just reset it quickly!

Yes but the service could be required long before the reminder or even perhaps after the date it's not very accurate as such.

I'm not one for recording all mileage and mpg and every item such as consumables but unfortunately I can muster two  or three folders of "history" on many of the car's I've owned mainly because they were British made and dealing with by  the English motor trade, even though the Japanese cars suffered from English dealerships there was never much to record with them other than routine servicing.

If using the manufacturer's fixed distance and time service strategy then they are always accurate according to the manufacturer's recommendations.

Back in the day when I did all that recording of info, there was not a "SRI" function within VCDS, but now for some cars, and only some cars in the VW Group fleet, there is a "SRI" button that clears all the relevant stored fields data back to zero - and now VCDS asks if "you" want to log all that data - and I now just ignore it!
