Is it possible? I can’t find a setting to turn off the auto door lock when driving?

Not possible without OBD11 or VCDS.

Post back with your results !!

Serious question, why would you want to?

Because it's bloody annoying. Why would you want it on?

Security - if the doors don't auto-lock then when you stop at traffic lights or a road junction then some scrote can open the car doors and steal anything inside the car e.g. shopping, laptop, briefcase, coat with wallet, etc.

At least it’s not South Africa, they would shoot you as well if leave doors unlocked so they can drive off with whole car

So, what happens in an accident and the emergency services can't open the door(s)??

Or am I missing something?

They autounlock in case of an accident.

I've never had anyone try in all the years of owning cars that don't do that.

Just means scrotes that want to steal your car need to create an accident so the doors unlock.

You must live and drive in unusually safe areas.

To halve the wear and tear rate on the lock mechanisms/motors.

And if you feel the threat level is negligible due to location and journey destinations as mentioned.

Both apply to me.

Plenty people might never drive in a dodgy area most of the time but might occasionally go places in their vehicle which they are unfamiliar with.

I was passing through Pilton Edinburgh so rough but i was just coming up an unlit dual carriageway and stopped at temp traffic light where the road went single before a junction where the regular traffic lights were turned off.

3 people came from the side and tried to get the doors open which luckily were locked.

I just floored it through the red lights.

I'm happy that worked out well for you.  I get the impression you do a heck of a lot more driving than I do.

So far my choice has always worked out well for me too, as it has for Jmagee.

Really? I don’t think that’ll be a problem for a decade or more.

Yes, I drive cars older than 10.

I have a Volvo 940 which is 25 years old and 200k miles and the door locks still work perfectly (it has central locking) with no signs of wear. I think auto locks are nothing to worry about.

Oh, that must mean VW group locks last indefinitely then...:D

How does the car know there's been an accident?? What if someone needs to get in to give you medical attention etc.. and the doors are locked??

The impact of the accident will unlock the doors, probably at the same time as the airbag deploying.

As someone said upthread, if you're incapacitated and first aiders need to get to you, a smashed window will be the least of your concerns at that point.

Accelerometers known as 'crash sensors' in airbag ECU and sometimes doors, I believe.
