Engine swap RH mount query 1.3 replaced by 1.6

Featured Replies

Hi, newbie but I've had my pickup for 6 years - at least. My sweet little 1.3 135 engine has been sorely abused and threw out a burnt valve last week. Rather than redo the neat little lump, I've decided to replace it with a 1.6 which I took off a rusty hatchback a few years ago. Similar mileage but one lady owner rather than a towing and lugging woodsman.

I either didn't recover or have lost the Right hand Engine mounting - and the two lumps on the engine next to the timing belt cover don't line up with the bracket on the inner wing. Am I missing an extra bit.? i can't see any mounts for sale which look like the under bonnet 1.6i photos I've seen.

Also, which would be considered more robust? the Power steering rack or the Manual? I've had trouble finding RHD manual racks, but I've got a scrappy one from a forman in at the mo and another to refit with new bearings when that goes, but also while the lump is out, I have the option of putting in the power rack which came with the 1.6 motor.

Half the world seem to want me to scrap the little felicia. Hmm. Too useful. I can go where the Works HiLux fears to tread and carry 20ft chestnut stick bundles out of the woods.

Please someone say that they know where to buy rear suspension turrets for the pickup........... mine are a pretty patchwork of welds.

Big hint - The 1.6 engine is different to the 1.3, and has different mounts.

Thanks Ken, I'm aware of the difference, the RH mount will be different. My question is - is there a tie piece which goes to the mount. or will I have to weld a new bracket to the body?

Also I can't see a mount in Alvadi or Skoda-parts- for the 1.6 MPI - which looks like the mount on the underbonnet photos for the 1.6 felicia. There is a mount called a "cantilever" which unfortunately doesn't have a photo. Guess I'll have to phone them.

1.6 has different bracket (6U0199186), that is screwed in same area as 1.3. Assembly of the engine mount and bracket with bushing looks like this:

The part called "cantilever" is probably this one (032199155) - it goes between the engine mount and engine block.

Thankyou so much Papez, now I've got to find the cheeky scoundrels.

I'm assuming I'll need three pieces then: the bracket, the mount with the bushes and the piece which may be the "cantilever"

How's the parts situation in the Czech republic these days?

It's getting worse. Skoda doesn't manufacture original parts for a few years now, so in some cases, scrapyard is only chance to get decent parts. But that supply is getting thinner, too..

Alvadi in Estonia have quite a good range, including all the front end body panels but there's always odds and sods we can't find. RHD only bits being the worst.

took me three months to locate a manual steering rack.

Anyway I've found the bracket and the block you pictured on ebay. Thanks again.
