I've already decided that I'm putting standard Skoda badges back on but would like to do something different with the chrome grill surround but can't decide what.

Here's the front of my car to help:

Options I'm thinking of are matt black, black magic or aluminium silver (with the roof bars painted to match).

I would go with black magic on the surround... I am thinking of doing it on mine. Matt black would be a pig to remove squashed bugs from!

I would like to get rid of the chrome surround on the grill on my octavia as well. Where would I find 'black magic' paint.

Is it in a can that i can apply myself? Do I have to remove the grill or can it be done in place?

That's what I want. Don't think I'll ever be happy with the front grille though even when it's painted.

Get it painted black magic i did mine on my black octy vrs and also replaced to grill insert with black mesh looks real smart

anyone got a pic of a black one, would like to see it, been wondering this myself.

Not to my taste but found this in matt black on the Milotec site. Would look better on a black magic car I think.
