Hi everyone,

I have a 2021 Kamiq Monte carlo with the Amundsen system, I tried to update the navigation database ( 20-11) but it doesn't work.

It looks like there is a lot of confusion as to how to update the system.

I have tried to use it and generate routes in areas where I know the road changed a lot but it did nothing.

I then went on to the skoda website and entered my VIN, it told me my car is equiped with " Columbus " ... which is not accurate , nevertheless I downloaded the files and followed the procedure, buying a USB-C drive on purpose, I then inserted the usb drive in the most forward usb-c port under the AC controls and started to drive around for almost 2 months and it did nothing at all.

I have asked the dealership to do something about it, car went in last friday but they couldn't do it either ...

So I am currently driving around with a November 2020 map and it starts to generate problems.

Do you guys have a way to force the update or a method that works ?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Regards

Do you have an SD card in the unit with a maps database on it?

Use Andriod Auto/Apple Maps bang up to date and much perferable to the built in maps

It downloads automatically there is no rollback or fix but you could try a reset hold on button till it restarts. Doesn't tell you but when you're system updates do a restart. And after 12 months you have to pay for skoda connect for downloads and software updates

How do you get Android Auto connected to an Amundsen system? Tried connecting my Huawei phone via a USB cable, but all I get is an "Unable to read USB device" message. Newbie at this.  Am I not doing something obvious?

@Rustynuts No there is no visible SD card slot.

@skoda1982 unfortunately I have tried doing a hard reset of the headunit multiple times with no sucess.

The infotainment subscription is up to date and valid as well ... I just don't understand why the thing isn't updating at all.

Not sure what that is but its not an Amundsen system on a Kamiq.  If you have a Fabia, depending on how old it is, it might not even have AA.  Usually you can either connect it wirelessly, you need to go into Android Auto settings on your phone and tock the wirelessbox (providing your phone supportts it).  Alternatively the USB-C socket should let you plug your phone into it and just load it up automatically as AA is built into Android.

Cheers. It's not on the list.  What a pain.

Thanks. My phone is apparently not compatible. What a nuisance.

Exactly, the thing is that mine did not receive a single map update since November 2020 which is a bit far 😅

I have been in touch with the stealer this morning and they said that they have no idea how to do it and pushed a request at Skoda HQ to have a definitive procedure.

I'll let you guys know as soon as I have an " official " method - procedure.

Do you mean the list for AA Wireless or just for AA?  If its not on the wireless list, and the car has it included in the system, then you should be able to get it via USB cable.

Thanks.  This is the site I went to: https://compatibilitylist.skoda-auto.com/#:~:text=You can check the compatibility,skoda-auto.com%2F.&text=the mobile phones were tested,at the time of testing.

I have a 2017 Yeti with an Amundsen system. The phone is a Huawei P20 Pro. It has AA on the phone but when I try to connect via USB it comes up with the "Unable to read USB device" message. Not v techie and don't know if it's a phone issue or something to do with the car? Any thoughts?

Thanks

Check on the Skoda website for compatability

I know someone with a Yeti and AA is not built in (mat be able to be activated by a dealer).  Are you sure that AA is part of the spec for your car?

Thanks. I'm not sure, and not sure how to check. Perhaps it hasn't. Just assumed that as I have the app that I could connect via a USB cable.  Not sure I want to give a dealer any more money so will either stick to it on my phone in a holder, or use the built-in satnav.

Dear friends,

A technical bulletin was published by Skoda on March 31st regarding the Amundsen MIB 3 nav update.

The good news is that they acknowledge there is an issue and found a way around it.

The bad news is that it requires the car to be plugged at the dealer to be fixed.

I'll update the bulletin number when my mechanic gives it to me but it is euro wide.
