Spark plugs for 2020 1.5 TSI

Featured Replies

My 1.5 TSI has just turned over 40k so I was looking to get the plugs changed.

I’ve seen recommendations for Denso Iridium but my local factors can only supply Bosch or NGK.

Can anyone recommend Bosch?

I have just had mine changed at the dealer. The ones that came out were marked NGK VW AG. Same ones went in . Hope that helps.

My mechanic has sourced the NGK VW ones for me. £68 for 4 though….

Yep thats about right- they are long life plugs so you wont need any again for another 40,000 miles 👍

I only recently changed to bosche for my 1.5 DADA Skoda Kamiq and seem to be getting 5% worse fuel economy.

Spark plugs were torqued to spec etc. Anyone else experienced this?

Looking at forums post replacement it seems everyone hates bosche for spark plugs. Maybe it's their personal opinion however seem to see Denso and NGK coming out on top?

Is the recent drop in economy related to colder weather, or perhaps more traffic - delays-   rather than new spark plugs?

When I drive to work it's quite early with minimal traffic. With previous NGK stock spark plugs I would get around 5.7 however with the bosche about 6. One of the 3 times I have drive to work (which is more accurate to judge than driving home in traffic) it was raining but other than that similar weather.

Car definitely seems on par, maybe a little better in terms of performance with new plugs. I also thought there might be some sort of run in procedure I missed although I would have thought it would be sorted 300km in 🤷.

I am a little bit of an amateur but took my time and bought all the correct equipment to change them.

Skoda wanted $70aud for a single spark plug 🤡 the bosche I got were $99 for all 4 and definitely the correct plugs.

Are those consumption figures you mention litres per 100KM?

Yeah, sorry. Not really a lot of difference but noticeable when it's consistent. Just came across this thread and thought someone who swapped to bosche might have had a similar experience

I've always been a fan of NGK plugs from my karting days - with US made Champion plugs second. Home-grown (NZ) Champions were always prone to chronic fouling.

The Bosche Spark plugs are not an issue performance or efficiency wise, and neither are the NGK or the Denso. Just get the right plugs, checking the pre-gapped gap is correct and the plugs do not get knocked fitting them.

A nice clean fresh air filter also.
