2010 Skoda Superb V6 4x4 Air Conditioning

Featured Replies

Morning fellow Superb owners,

The air conditioning in my Superb is not working as it should. It blows coolish air but no way the icy blast one would expect. I asked my dealership to check it when they were doing some other work to the car and they found the gas levels to be correct. I didn't ask them to investigate further. My question is should I ask my main dealer to sort it or should I try a mobile outfit? Does anybody know of a mobile or a "fixed" air con repair company in East London or Essex. Thanks in advance for your assistance

Regards

Pete

Very likely it's the compressor.  I had mine replaced by a local air con specialist, wasn't cheap though.

Take it to an aircon specialist.  There are many things this could be including compressor, control valve, fans, sensors etc. It needs properly diagnosing as fixing by substitution can get expensive quickly.

Thanks for the advice StuH78 and bigjohn. I'll take it to my local A/C specialist

A quick check is to cycle the aircon off/on with the engine idling (keep the radio off) and listen for a change in engine note. If things are working normally you should hear a slight dip in the engine note as the load comes on from the compressor.

Failure can be one of several things: broken drive linkage in the pulley hub, failed clutch, leak in the refrigerant loop, failed compressor.

I have just bought a superb (2011) and I was going through the receipts at the weekend and I've seen an air con fix that was just a new "hose" and fixings - £250, main dealer though, so I would def go to a specialist instead!
