A typical dashcam will require 5-10W. Varies with model and resolution. So I'd say up to 2 amps for the high end 4k models.

I have a Nextbase that uses battery power faster than a 2 amp adaptor can supply, and it eventually shuts down. I run it with the screen on so I can be sure it is working. I have to use a 3 amp adapter for it and it is fine now.

Wow, that's a massive current draw for a Dashcam.

Here is what Nextbase say on their web site:

"Do Nextbase Dash Cams use much power?

On average, our Series 2 Dash Cams use approximately 300 mAh (milliamp hours) of power while turned on (recording and charging), 200 mAh while in standby mode (charging), and around 100 mAh in standby mode (fully charged)."

I have just installed my Nextbase dash cam in the Skoda Kamiq, not a job I was looking forward to, at 79 with body not as flexible as before, skrabbling about in footwells was not something I liked but its done now, I had a set of piggyback positive leads but they were something I could have done without as I discovered a convenient empty fuse slot below a 15a blue one that fitted the 'off with ignition' requirement.

This exercise has drawn my attention to the longevity of SD cards, I thought their lifespan was limitless hence the number of years re-cycling the same card since day one, but it looks like its time for a replacement

Una volta che la porta è LIVELLO al pavimento, leggero WIGGLE tirando fuori pressione sui lati sinistro e destro per rilasciare le catture di cerniera 2 x.

Quando si riadatta la porta del fusibile, ASSICURARE che la porta sia LIVELLO e Wiggle in pressione sinistra e destra ai lati, come si spinge indietro.
