2019 Superb coil springs

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone

I got a 2019 Superb 2.0TDI FWD 150hp.

I recently bought 19" rims but since the car was imported with increased ride height, it looks ridiculous lol.

What I would like to do is install the standard coils under it instead of the increased ride height ones. Does anybody know the genuine numbers for that one, both front and back. Partslink have about 26 genuine number but impossible to find the correct one.

What coloured dots do the front and rear springs have?

By looking at a chart, this will tell you what springs you have fitted.

Is your Superb MK3 2.0TDI 150HP a hatchback or estate/combi ?

Does your Superb MK3 2.0TDI 150HP have a DSG/automatic or manual gearbox ?

Do you have electronically adjustable shock absorbers ?

DSG gearbox will mean stiffer and/or longer front springs.

Estate/combi will mean stiffer and/or longer rear springs.

OE number on the once that are under it is 3Q0 511 115AR for the rear, cant remember the front ones.

Combi, DSG, trailer hitch.

What I would need is the OE number for the regular ones, not the increased ground clearance.

Many of the aftermarket coil spring catalogues suggest 3Q0511115AK for the Superb MK3 2.0TDI, but this includes both the hatchback and combi, with or without factory fitted towbar.

3Q0511115AK is quite a light spring, and is only weight range 3.

You might want to use a slightly stiffer and/or longer rear spring such as 3Q0511115AL or 3Q0511115M which are weight range 4 and 5 rear springs, as shown in the chart below. 0YC is weight range 3, 0YD is weight range 4, and 0YE is weight range 5.

I suggest you choose depending on how much weight you usually carry in the back of the car.

What works well with a heavily loaded car, can cause an unnecessarily hard ride if you rarely carry much weight.

Thank you Carlston!

According to partslink24 the weight range is 5 0YE and suspension in rear is UC7 and front is G03........you dont happen to know the replacement for regular coil springs in front? OE number on the ones that are installed is 5Q0 411 105 HS

Kilen 25117 and Lesjofors 4095131 are sold to replace both 5Q0411105CG (which is a VW Passat standard ride height front spring and very similar to 5Q0411105GM) and 5Q0411105GM.

Kilen 25123 and Lesjofors 4095137 are sold to replace 5Q0411105GN.

I suggest you fit Kilen 25123 or Lesjofors 4095137 front springs that match 5Q0411105GN, and Kilen 65126 or Lesjorfors 4295136 rear springs that match 3Q0511115M.

This should give you a firm, sporty ride to match your 19" wheels, yet still have a better ride than the increased ride height springs.

If you compare the weight of the standard ride height springs and the increased ride height springs, you might be surprised just how much heavier the increased ride height springs are. This is due to the bigger wire diameter on the increased ride height springs.

Kilen and Lesjofors are the same springs made in the same factory in Sweden. They are just sold under different brand names to increase their market share.

As you are changing your front springs from increased ride height to standard ride height, you will need to also change the front rubber buffers that are fitted to the front shock absorbers.

Currently you will have 90mm rubber buffers fitted which are for the increased ride height. You need to change to the 70mm rubber buffers to match the standard ride height. These have OEM part number 1K0412303B.

Hijacking this thread in the hope of picking @Carlston's clearly sizeable spring knowledge :)

Where could I find a complete list of Superb Mk3 springs, showing the paint colour codes, part numbers and PR codes ?

I have a MY2016 Superb 150 TDI 4x4 estate (with factory towbar). Front springs have two paint marks, blue and light grey (I think).

PR codes: G01, 1JA, 0YF, L07.

Am looking at changing dampers, and was half thinking of buying a second set of springs (to match the existing standards ones) so I could pre-assemble struts, and minimise time taken to take the car off the road to fit.

Struggling to find a table that ties up the paint codes, PR codes with actual spring part numbers.

Not looking at changing to a different spring type or lowering. Only thing I'm considering changing is fitting B6 dampers to reduce the floaty boaty ride.

Thanks for any help!

Fantastic, just the info I was after, thanks.

I'd been looking at the parts catalogues on 7zap, but for some reason the part numbers are now deliberately partially replaced with *s so you can't read them exactly. Oemepc seems to bee offline now too.

7zap only goes up to 2016, and the Superb MK3 isn't included. Hence for the Superb MK3 I use "LLLParts Skoda".

I haven't had any problems reading part numbers on 7zap, although I use a chromebook. Maybe it doesn't work properly with a mobile?

I've had a look at the LLL parts page for my model, a 2017 Superb 206/280 4x4 estate with DCC to try and understand the different options and was shocked to see 25 different front coil options. My front coils have the blue and grey dots and rears have no apparent markings. Couple of questions...

Does @Carlstonor anyone else know what the stiffest (highest spring rate) part numbers would be for front and rear for my car or Do I already have the highest available stock spring rate? Interested in standard or OEM Sportline ride height if there's an option there.

Any help much appreciated.

As you can see in the chart below, 5Q0411105GM is an L07 front spring.

If you are finding the standard front springs too soft, then 5Q0411105GP might be a good choice. If you have a look on autodoc, you will see that 5Q0411105GM has a wire diameter of about 11.25mm whereas 5Q0411105GP has a wire diameter of about 11.75mm. This will make the front springs about 8.3% stiffer. Front ride height might be increased slightly, but only about 3mm higher if your current front springs are still in new condition, ie haven't started sagging yet.

If you don't carry much weight in the rear, you might not need stiffer rear springs to match the stiffer front springs. Howver, if you do want stiffer rear springs, these should also be available.

If you want to find the OEM part number for your rear springs, getting a copy of your car's build codes is a good place to start.

There's an ebay seller who can supply the build codes for about 3 Euros. Search "skoda vin options" on ebay to find the listing.

Ok, so at the risk of abusing Carlston’s incredible knowledge, my VIN has been decided and the rear coils on my Superb are 3Q0 511 115 AL. On autodoc this appears to have a wire diameter of 12.5mm

Are there any slightly stiffer options around that ride height? Perhaps something around 13mm or even 13.25mm?

For context, I often carry lots of gear and I'm trying to keep a slight rear bias to the spring rate and rear-sway bar (upgraded to a 25.4mm hollow rear sway so far which has been adequate but could be further improved) to try and achieve more neutral cornering and reduce the understeer. I’ve come from a nose heavy WRX with heavy suspension modification to enable rotation on track. Not looking for that extreme outcome here but am conscious of the impact these changes will provide in an awd car and the benefits it brings when pushed.

Bearing in mind that you often carry weight in the back, I suggest you go up two in the weight range hierarchy, ie. from 3Q0511115AL to 3Q0511115N.

You can see the code 1JA in the chart above, which means that these are standard ride height springs.

0YD is a weight range 4 spring, 0YE is a weight range 5 spring, and 0YF is a weight range 6 spring. Notice that D corresponds to 4, E corresponds to 5, and 6 corresponds to 6.

You might also want to consider the Eibach R21093 rear spring because Eibach claims this has a wire diameter of 13.0mm whereas some of the other brands claim only 12.5mm or 12.75mm. This is sold to replace 3Q0511115M. However, because you often carry quite a bit of weight in the back of the car I would be inclined to go with the slightly stiffer 3Q0511115N rear springs.

The stiffer standard springs are going to lift the ride about 5mm front and back and my ride is already relatively high so I was considering the sports suspension if that's an option.

I suggest you change to 225/55R17 size tyres fitted to 7J rims or 245/45R18 fitted to 8J rims. That should help fill the wheelarch gap.

With the significantly firmer springs, I would go with 225/55R17 rather than 245/45R18 due to the significantly improved ride that the higher sidewalled 17" tyres will give. This will allow flatter cornering due to the stiffer springs while maintaining a decent level of ride comfort. The narrower tyres will also be lighter which helps handling especially while driving round bumpy corners/bends in the road. You might also want to consider high quality shock absorbers such as Bilstein B6 to go with the stiffer springs.

Most aftermarket springs and shock absorbers are aimed at standard ride height, so there's far more availability of parts by sticking to standard ride height. I'm not a fan of lowered cars. It makes the car look like the springs are sagging/broken and/or there's a couple of sacks of potatoes in the boot. It also compromises the suspension travel.

The front springs in the "skoda parts catalogue" aren't labelled according to the ride height, however I suspect each front spring is specific to lower ride height or standard ride height or increased ride height.

Thank you. I’m also not interested in dropping the car too low. I actually recently changed the wheel and tyre combination to 245/35R20 tyre with 20x8,5" ET35 as I was gifted the rims used from a friend. Originally wanted to stick with 19s but am quite happy with the comfort and the roads near me are quite good. The rims fill the arches out nicely although the combo does lift the car almost 9mm through increased tyre diameter which has inadvertently helped avoid scraping in our steep driveway. Speedometer error has been accounted for and was about 1%.

Really just trying to keep the current aesthetic in terms of ride height. This is the car unloaded.

those Goodyear tyre’s look really good. I’ll be looking at those for our Tiguan. I’m currently running Khumo PA51 AS on the Skoda which are helpful getting around at the snow and are a nice soft compound.

If your rear springs are currently 3Q0511115AL, then maybe try the next stiffness up in the hierarchy, ie. 3Q0511115M, as this is a relatively cheap and easy upgrade to try.

You might also want to look at a rear anti-roll bar from a VW Passat B8 estate 4motion 2.0TSI 206kW/280PS, ie. the VW equivalent. This is because the VW Passat B8 equivalent tends to use slightly stiffer anti-roll bars compared to the Superb MK3.

K8B means hatchback, K8D means estate.

Thanks @Carlston. I’ll shop these springs and report back with the results. Already running a Hardrace 25.4mm (hollow) rear sway bar and the improvement was immense and almost entirely removed body roll during day to day driving. That was one of the softest aftermarket sway bar options.
