Embers from exhaust mk1 fabia vrs

Featured Replies

This happened once before when I hit 130 mph but just thought it was a blockage in the exhaust however earlier today I was on the motorway and put my foot down up to about 120 and embers started coming from the back of the car, I slowed down and it stopped, any ideas on what could be happening?

I don't recommend nor condone travelling at those speeds, for your own safety and that of others. I'm not the 'safety police' though. However, it's probably just burning all the carp that the exhaust has gathered up.

I'd agree, with the side note that I think you'd need a remapped engine to achieve 130mph in the first place.

You need to drive faster to eradicate the problem.

It's probably soot deposits in the cat getting burnt off, best not to mention speeds on here or the safety police tend to show up, I too drive very fast but you won't get me to admit to just how fast...

You'll never take me alive copper!

I'm sure the OP meant kph and not mph as it would be a stupid thing to announce on an open public platform as it'd be a matter of record that, if found, could be referred back to should anything happen in the future.

So much for people struggling with the rise in the cost of living and fuel, knowing VW's read outs he's probably also still getting 4 litres per 100 km.

Driving fast is not the same as breaking speed limits or perhaps driving dangerously, driving too fast is a different matter and could be at very low speeds.

The original post reminds me of the Max Power lot buying gold chain link off a reel, "quality"🤣

I had the same once in my monte hitting the 120 ""kph"" limiter in 4th gear (I was bored).

Lift off and you could just see these red embers flitting out behind me. Cars fine obviously.

Basically an Italian tune up, clearing out any bits of stuck on carbon.
