I looked at the rpm this morning and driving normally all the gear changes happen about just under 2000rpm, sometimes, when going over big speed bumps the car drops to 1st gear and changes to 2nd at almost 2750rpm which gives unnecessary revs, noise and speed higher than you require for condition but this was before remap and was annoying me, I was hoping the DSG remap will solve this but it is the same thing now.

The high RPM in that 1st to 2nd gear change does seem odd. Hmmm.

I know, I noticed that straight away since I bought a car, it was weird, especially I came from very smooth CVT gearbox.

Also, the car always starts moving from D1, I read somewhere here that other cars in normal driving start from D2.

It is going to be interesting to see how a remap of a 1.5 TSI ACT with a DSG remap works out.  It is how it is when off the accelerator and in 2 cylinder mode and then you stamp on the accelerator that will matter.

I mean just in D first of all or shifting to S and booting it.   Or drop a gear or 2 with the shifter or paddles and you get max bhp /torque at that RPM.

Personally as well as having the pre remap Dyno I would have had the V-box or Draggy figures from the car and with good tyres on which is pretty important with a remapped FWD car IMO.   No point always having to put Traction Control off just to enjoy a bit quicker acceleration.

 PS.  Edit.

I read nonsense about starting in 2nd as well.    You have a 7 speed twin dry clutch DSG.   It starts in 1st. A low gear to about 6 mph when it changes up.

Maybe needs to be at about that or stopped before it goes back to 1st slowing, stopping.

The remap of that is going to be interesting to follow.  Please keep us updated.

I have a different engine/gearbox, but mine moves off in 1st gear and quickly changes itself to 2nd.

Thanks for input @EnterName, mine moves off in 1st and changes to 2nd at about 2000rpm, so I guess this is normal. Apart from when I go over bid bad speed bumps, I have that jerkiness in drive, as i mentioned above.

If your car is changing up around 2k revs then looking at that Dyno plot you are in the region of not using much of the improved map. Give it a little next time it's warm and you'll be surprised I think. Get the revs up and it will be a different beast if the Dyno is correct.

Same here with my 1.8TSi and DQ200, on moving off it almost immediately changes into 2nd.

Will try that at some point. May be I was over expecting after having a few diesel engines remapped and feeling the changes straight away, petrol do like spin a bit faster.

Your comment makes me think that there is something not totally right with my DSG. I checked a few months ago with Skoda if I there is a recall for it but they confirmed that my year/model do not have anything so I was nowhere with this.

In most cases I do not have a problem, this only happens when I go over massive speed bump with ruined surface so I am very slow and the car changes to 1st gear and then it revs too high to go to 2nd gear. Unfortunately I need to ride over that speed bump at least 4 times a day -  it is next to school where my kids are! :)

A mapped diesel will gain more at the low end compared to a petrol. We are talking about a smaller capacity too. The torque difference between a mapped 2.0tdi and a mapped 1.5tsi will be huge and if you are used to the former then it's understandable why you are questioning the results.
