Headlight condensation 2016

Hi All,

 

This is the first issue I have had with my 2016 Superb. As you can see the nearside headlight is full of condensation. Its gradually got worst over the last 3 months or so. The offside is clear.

 

Would anyone have any thoughts on how to cure this issue?

 

Any sources for reasonably priced spares? new or used headlights?

The general consensus is they all do that now as they're not sealed. It's even mentioned in newer manuals. 

 

I've had success parking facing the sun, (difficult in winter!)  but you could also attack it with a hairdryer

Thanks Patent, Tried the sunshine for a few solid days, as the car rarely moves when I am at work and its in the sun most of the day. Didn't have any effect. I was thinking hairdryer next. Obviously not causing any issue, but I wonder if it will fail an MOT??

As long as the beam pattern cuts off as normal you'll be okay. That looks fine to me, apart from being annoying to look at.

 

Mine cloud up after the car is washed but clear after a day or so

My worry would be the droplets will cause corrosion and damage the LED module or other internal electronics.

 

It's hard to tell from your images but it looks pretty excessive and causing droplets inside. Compare it to these images I posted from a Skoda TPI:

 

I'd use a hairdryer to get the worst out. Then inspect the headlights to make sure all the caps are in place and there are no obvious cracks etc.

Droplets rather than misting, I have had the misting on both over the years its always been short lived for me. Ill try the hair drier.

Remove the headlight access cover at the back - drive around for a bit. No need to have the headlights on.

Worked for me.

 

Leaving it in the sun didn't do the trick for me.

Id say thats a bit beyond misting personally, either dry it out or replace the headlamp

That’s way worse than our 2016 car. I often get some fogging, especially when it’s damp, but I’ve never had actual droplets forming.
