Handling upgrades

Featured Replies

@Smart ProYou quoted my reply to @DEL80Yabout the sidewall of CrossClimates and softness & hence the steering.

So the sidewalls of the Cross Climate are not necessarily softer than the summer tyres.

I have had Cross Clomate and Cross Climate on cars that have had Summer Tyres on and it matters not if in the north south east or west,

you have to take into account what the summers were but they were on 18" rims so lower profile and nor width was posted in the answers.

My Corsa Electric came on Michelin Primacy 205/45 R 17',  total crap, went onto Michelin CrossClimate +, then Michelin Alpin 6's were on and changed recently for Riken Snow tyres.

All were and are 205/45 R 17.  As to Sidewall softness that would be the Alpin 6 which i wrecked, as to handling over 30,000 miles they were the best even in the past hot summer.

But then there is almost no sidewall.

Looks clear to me, but stick to psi if you find the decimal point confusing.

Not sure where you got that from, but in the real world, most people will get the tyre pressure data from the sticker on the fuel cap, as below.

Not so clear, is it?

not with the kPa.

As to PSI / bar,  there are many that understand neither or ether,  or even any of the 3.,

Whats wrong with that picture? I find it perfectly clear. Simply choose the row with your tire size, than the part with normal load, or fully loaded. And then below that the left column is the pressure for the front tires, and the right is for the rear.

No problem at all.

In the UK many people grew up with imperial standards, eg PSI for tyre pressures.

Most of these people will now be older and possibly have poorer reading eyesight.

They then look at the tyre pressure figures, don't see the . and also think this is PSI, not knowing what Bar is.

I have come across several instances of this.

Don't forget most posters on this forum will be interested in cars and have more knowledge on motoring aspects than 'Joe Public'.
