Ventilation problem

Featured Replies

Hi guys

I have one problem with my octavia 3 2013 diesel.

When i turn on clima, on driver side i get cold air from all wents and is ok. On passenger side on all vents i get warm air and is not cooling.
So driver side ok,passenger side not ok.

I get one fault code from obdeleven. Is this  the problem? If so,what and where is the problem?  Thank you

That certainly looks like the problem! Left side not cooling, left side fault.

Hopefully someone can point you in the direction of its position in the car.

There are servo motors that control the positioning of the temperature flaps on each side, seems like the one on the passenger side is (like the fault code says) jammed.

Hm.. Fault code says left flap motor jamed…but on left side is cooling.

Don't rely 100% on the accuracy of the fault code description - follow what isn't working.

I would check the output test options on the HVAC module, these can 'exercise' all the flaps. SOmetimes the output test is sequential (i.e. one flap after the other) and sometimes you can choose which flap to operate. Run the test and listen - you can hear the motors move if they are OK.

In UK, passenger side is left hand side which fits with fault code. Is your car uk right hand drive?

Either way, it depends how the mixing flap is jammed compared to whether you are asking to raise or lower cabin temperature.

The flap motor is going to be very likely candidate for your problem.

I've got the exact same problem but on the right hand side and I can't get at the lousy thing. Anyway, first of all you need to be aware that there are 2 different brands of part depending whether your heating system is Valeo or Denso. The only way to tell is by removing the old part. The problem usually lies with a potentiometer inside the motor which can be obtained for a couple of Euros or less from Ali express. There's also a couple of you-tube videos floating about showing how to fix it by cleaning the potentiometer. In your instance though, you need to check the actual flaps and cogs for any damage. As for the task in hand read this thread since it should be particularly useful to you as the vehicle concerned in one of the posts is also a left hand drive vehicle:
