Disable auto rear wipers

Featured Replies

Hi. I recently purchased a Skoda Octavia mk4 vrs and have been getting use of the auto wipers but noticed when using these that the rear wiper is also part of the automatic system. Every now and then it makes a really annoying screeching noise, when there is not much rain to wipe. Just wondered if anyone had found a way to disable the rear wiper from the auto wipe system. Thanks in advance

Same issue, it's hidden deep in the car menu somewhere under Car, outside, Mirrors and wipers I think

Agreed, most annoying when screen not very wet. I managed to turn mine off using the following settings route. Hope this helps.

I believe the Octavia is the same as the Kodiaq, and the only way to stop the random rear window wiper operation is to untick the rear wiper in reverse option. If you untick the automatic wiping in the rain option as in above post it turns of the front windscreen automatic wiper option.

There is a button but it could depend on infotainment type/model.

I got this solved, as its was annoying to me, that I either have the automatic wiper when im reverse, but its causes random rear wipes when unneded, or no automatic rear wiping....

The solution is actually coding involved, this way you can have automatic wiper when reverse, but without those annoying wipes when not needed.

CU9 -> Adaptations -> rear window wiper

If you want to stop the screeching and other noises from the rear wiper clean it and screen with some white vinegar

Hi have found in mine, if you turn on the front wiper on, or on rain setting, then turn on the rear wiper, it will continue to wipe

occasionally (even if turned off on the stork) but if you don't turn it on in the first place it won't wipe.

But if you turn the front off and back on without the rear it won't wipe

Teardrop setting?

What does that mean ?

There was on my last car a setting somewhere which is a teardrop setting, to catch drips or run off from the roof/rear screen like after a light shower or car wash.

You know those annoying little trickles

Never heard of that, but no if the front is set to Rain trigger and you don't use the rear it wont operate, but as soon as you use the rear then it operates in conjunction with the front

I don't precisely know how it works, I had a work mate with OBD11 turn it on.
