Quick question - Brand new Superb SE L

Featured Replies

Hi guys, just taken delivery of a brand new Superb SE L. Unlike the previous two SE L's we've had there were no umbrella's, ice scraper and the user manual and bits came in a crappy looking card sleeve..

Before I say something to the dealership, is this how it is now?

Cheers. D

I’m sure I heard they’ve been scrimping on things and probably an optional extra these days.

They’re not expensive if you want them, but as they’ve not expensive why don’t they just include them

My 10 day old Superb L&K had one brolly and the ice scraper. But yes, manual in a crappy card case. TBH I wasn’t really expecting a manual since it’s on line and in the car electronically - after a fashion.

My L&K had the same - crap cardboard folder, one brolly and ice scraper. I’ve since got another brolly for the passenger door from eBay.

As they’re supposed to come with two umbrellas, just get the dealer to supply you with them. They’ve probably been nicked and sold on eBay before PDI.

Two umbrella's to one being standard was changed quite some time ago.

But any umbrella or ice scraper missing is something to surely report.

To the other chap with a new L&K - did yours come with a first aid kit in the boot? Mine didn’t and wondering whether that’s normal or not.

No first aid kit. I think this is a requirement in some countries, but not UK.

Suspected so - bit rubbish on an L&K which has so many bells and whistles but hardly the end of the world. Rest of the car is fab.

Another slight niggle with my car: Navigation system, if you mark a destination on the map, it gives the address as street name followed by house number (german style!) and the address takes the form of Anystreet 53, Anytown, England, Deutschland. Hmm, somone forgot to tell VW who won the war methinks! Some other countries in Europe are also apparently in Deutschland, others aren't. I guess this is a database issue that will hopefully be resolved in time. On the other hand, if no-one else has this issue it might be some sort of configuration issue on my car. Hence this post...

I’ve so far only being using the Apple CarPlay navigation / Waze / Google Maps on mine rather than factory satnav - so can’t comment as yet.

Yes I tend to use Waze too, but the inbuilt satnav is there so IMO it should work properly! If you have the time perhaps you could have a quick look at yours please?

My Sportline also came with drivers umbrella, ice scraper & paper manuals book.

I was disappointed not to get the leatherette wallet like my Octavia as it's great to hold the registration & insurance documents in the glove box so they don't get dirty or damaged from other items in the glove box.

My navigation works the way you describe but it's normal here in Switzerland to have the number at the end of the street.

The favourites seem to work fine though with the correct address.

There was the same 10 years ago with not accepting UK postcodes on the MIB1.

I'd have thought that would be fixed by now..

Any also no medical kit or 1L top up oil...

Its small things to you when you've paid 45k€ but I guess to VW it's millions per year in cost reductions
