Clicking sound by wheel

Featured Replies

Hi all jusg thought I’d come on here for the best advice, I’ve noticed on my new car after a drive it sometimes makes like a clinking sound, a bit like mechanical parts sound when hit together but over and over, any ideas or advice?

Some more clues please.

EG+:-

With engine running?

After you turn the engine off?

While driving?

While turning?

What engine?

Thanks. AG Falco

My advice is to ask a question giving enough information for people to be able to give a response or try on a clairvoyant forum.

At a guess it's just the hot engine and exhaust parts cooling down.

Hi yeah you’re right sorry for lack of info! While completely stationary and engine off, no turning, no driving, 1.2TSI engine

Yeah that could be the case, as it happens when the engine is off and it’s stationary

Is it not something to worry about then?

No.🙂

The hotter the engine the the more noticeable it is.

It can be wise, with a turbo engine to drive it gently for the last part of the journey, which will also cool the engine as well.

Thanks. AG Falco
