Nope still missed it ...................

Guilty as charged - I do take my (& family's) safety very seriously, are you suggesting you don't

Can't see the relevance of the car you own either (have owned many BMW's including E30 M3, Subaru, Ford & a couple of rally cars)

Well if you don't get it then you don't get it.....each to their own and that's what these forums are all about......surely?!?!?

As I don't have a family then I only have to think about my own safety and my girlfriends but everything on my car is 'safe' as far as I am concerned? Or do you see something that may need some attention?

Why can't you see the relevance of the car I own? This is only the 3rd car I have ever owned with none of the previous 2 being any of your quoted suggestions....

Calm down, I'm not having a pop at you Baker21

Tuning and styling is a very personal thing - fortunately we don't all like the same things - how boring would that be?

Some of the mods you have done look great, but would be so impractical for where i live (example how low your car is), but if you can get away with it, fine.

You took the 'relevance of the car you own' too personally, ie the car i own, it makes no difference to the badge of the car, as long as it meets most of your requirements.

I wasn't suggesting you own any of my previous choices of car either, purely picking up on your comment:

something that I would expect a Skoda owner to suggest.....

I bought a Skoda (after the BM) because i wanted a well built (ie German quality), economical car with as much VFM as possible, had "the best" now got better, for me anyway, i wouldn't go back to the BM's again.

Oh & for the record, yours are not overly stretched by the looks of them, i just prefer the rim inside the sidewall slightly, purely for protection of the rims.

Fair enough then mate....

Your quite correct that we all like our 'own' personal touches and in most cases this is not always what 'other's' like but it would be boring if we all had the same cars, as you stated....

I think you guys are taking this a little too seriously and without sounding 'stereotypical' something that I would expect a Skoda owner to suggest.....

LOL, I dont actually own a Skoda anymore, I was thankfull to be rid of the bl**dy thing to be honest! I bought a Mondeo ST some time ago so does that still fit me in with the stereotype that you obviously must be (driving a Skoda) ;)

Whilst a dont see the point in it at all, I can appreciate that a mild stretch does actually look quite nice (the big stretches just look stupid), and has it's place on a show car, but cars are all about driving, they should be out on the road doing what they are meant to do, not sitting in a car park being polshed, and for driving, you'd never want the compromise of a dangerous wheel/trye combo?

If you drive a Ford now mate then why waste your time posting on this forum?

I think that as I have stated people want different things out of their cars and if we are going to be honest there are only a handleful of people in this specific forum that take their cars to shows......

As for the dangerous wheels and tyre combo I am afraid that I don't see the point of this discussion, the tyre fits so the only danger is the potential kerbing on the outer rim.

I do think the tyres in the thread I posted are to much. I have got only a slight stretch on mine and I like the stretch on Baker21's

Chill out sunshine, I owned my Superb for a long time, I had every fault under the sun go wrong with it, I have information that could be valuable to current owners, and that is the point of these forums is it not?

I also think that Briskoda is one of the best internet forums due to the varied nature of the people who frequent it, and if you have a non car related question, you can nearly always be sure someone on here will know the answer, I wasn't aware it was obligatory to have to own a Skoda to be on here?

Clearly you dont see the point, the tyre does not fit otherwise it wouldn't have to be streched, the sidewalls are not designed to be run like that, and you'd have to run higher than average pressure to keep the wear even, but then the sidewalls (which aren't designed to be run on) would be getting run on when you go round corners, this obviously results in a dangerous situation.

I think stretched tyres look much better than standard and don't see a safety issue with them unless you try to stretch them too much but everyday running on them is fine and know many people that do with no problems:thumbup:

can only see a slight risk of a tyre popping off its bead and deflating if the tyre was very stretched and the car was been pushed very hard round a corner but this shouldn't happen if your driving at sensible speeds on public roads and to be honest most people that have stretched tyres on there car have them for looks and not performance and find thereselves more at home on a car show display stand than on a track day:thumbup:

I could reply the same to yourself johnjohnhealy however I feel this is getting a little out of hand now....

I think we should just agree to disagree as we clearly have different views and while you believe that the tyre doesn't fit, I do.....so let's just leave it there....

I won't get involved in any of your arguements. You do indeed have a very nice looking car.

But steer clear of those type of comments and look past the ignorance that we may have previously owned Skoda's.

Indeed I do think Baker21's car looks very very nice.

I am just questioning the safety of stretched tyres, My opinion is that they are not designed to be used like that so they aren't safe, I certainly wouldn't want my family driven round in a car with streched tyres, but obviously that just my personal opinion.

Just love those wheels. Did you have to do any further mods to fit them, ie spacers etc? What size tyres are you using? Nice...........Very Nice!!:)

Very nice, but aren't the tints illegal (now) on the front windows?

someone posted the law about it in the New Octy forum few days ago IIRC.

Looks brilliant, great job. Have to say I'd be bricking it every time I got within one foot of anything resembling a kerb with those mega wheels and no rim protector in sight. Fantastic!

Thanks for the comment mate but everyone has their own opinion...

The wheels are ET35 with the fronts being 8.5J and the rears 9.5J, I have fitted no spacers currently but I have just sourced some spacers for the fronts as I wish I had purchased 9.5J rims all round....

The tyres are 235/35/19's and apart from that there have been no mods to get the wheels and tryes to fit onto the Superb...

I had the tints done some time ago and your quite correct that they are illegal however I have been stopped by the police on a few occasions and not had anything mentioned, I think that the colour of the car and the fact that they are a low tint enables me to not have any problems.....but I may have spoken too soon....

Thanks mate....your not the only one that would feel like that....I did!!

I have kerbed the rear wheels twice since having them on the car and had to have them re-furbished but I think I have got the knack of parking now, LOL!!

Is that in regards to people who are on here, that don't drive Skoda's anymore?

LOL, NP.

One question, and I didn't see it answered so forgive me if it is, but what are the black bits on the lower front & rear bumpers on the sides?

Look like police unmarked car light repeaters.

No mate that is a general statement...

They are LED sidemarkers and illuminate orange when I have my sidelights on.

They are an aftermarket modification that come in 3 different coloured bezels / lens that we manufacture.

Volvo's, trucks have them on as safety features and obviously 'yank' motors and I have fitted them to every car I own, they are great for safety when reversing or pulling out of junctions, etc and look very nice at night.

Do you have any night pics on the car?

I might know someone who'd like them on their motor
