Updated Karoq Specs - April 2024

Featured Replies

Skoda UK have pulled the Karoq, Kodiaq and Octavia brochures from their website - hopefully just to update them - but according to the configurator:

- there are no diesel cars being offered now,

- Race Blue metallic paint returns as an option for the Sportline,

- a new Parking Package Plus option is offered for the Sportline providing Park Assist and the return of the Area View camera.

So the new Karoq finally matches the options I had fitted to my 3 year old Karoq, as well as offering Matrix lights etc. Shame it now attracts the DVLA 'Luxury Car' tax rates though 😞

I fail to see the point of Parking Package Plus. I get Park Assist ( which I have ) and I get why people would want area view but I can't think of any reason why I'd want both.

Skoda have always used 'value' as their trump card but to my eyes, they continue to dig their own grave.  If I were compelled to pay the additional luxury VED , I guarantee a Karoq would never be on my radar, and that's coming from someone who thinks the Karoq was Skoda's best product.

Race Blue still remains a no cost option on the config I'm using for the Sportline, but I note things like sunroof are no longer available. Adaptive cruise etc remain costly options. Such things are becoming std on many cars, even some cheap basic cars have it these days. And to think that's for Skoda's old-school ICE engines - what will the pricing be like when Hybrid comes along?

Would I buy a Karoq today? Nope.  I'd take something like a Tucson Hybrid over the Karoq 1.5 DSG. Or If I were paying the luxury tax, a BMW X1 for not much more. Not that I've looked in to it, but when I say for not much more, when factoring in deprectiaion, that X1 may even prove to be cheaper than any Karoq listing over £40k.

A lot of car companies are altering specs, because of new EU specs compulsory from July 2024.

Before anyone says UK has Brexit, we have to accept UK is small part of European market and manufacturers are going to give us same specs rather than make special specs for UK.

More likely price is going up, can't see anything significant happening to change the Karoq, especially if it is only few months before it's similar size electric replacement, the Elroq is due to be launched

Skoda Germany sells Karoq from €32,930 (£28,177), but Skoda UK won't let you have a low price basic Karoq.  German Karoq Sportline is from €39,770 (£34,030)

The sunroof is standard on the Sportline, so not shown as an option. And I agree that when I had Park Assist on previous cars I only used it to show it off. But the Area View on my present Karoq is invaluable.

The main problem is that Skoda have lumped options together into packages rather than let you choose individual items. So you have to buy unwanted items like heated rear seats to get the bits you do want.

They'll be back to circa 20% off again soon enough.  The only annoying thing will be the cars that breach the £40K list price will be stuck with higher tax - I guess very few people will buy those, unless they somehow don't realise.

It also looks like tow bar prep is now standard, at least on the Sportline.

Folks  - Just ordered a factory build 1.5 DSG Sportline - does anyone know if parking package plus is standard or not - the brochure shows it as standard (black dot) but also later contradicts itself by saying it is available as an option pack - Although 19" saggitarius look the bees knees (and I have driven one with those wheels) does anyone know whether in theory I can either get the e.g sel 18" wheels fitted as park of the build process or if not whether dealer may swap them to 18" when it arrives with them? I know I can ask dealer this but just wanted to get peoples thoughts as to whether it could happen!

I feel that Skoda no longer value the ‘brochure’ inasmuch as it seems to be compiled by someone who doesn’t give a **** - apart from the mention above the dots and dashes are all over the place in the options list and don’t get me started on the price of the ‘packs’……..

As for the dealer arranging some sort of swap on the wheels - I know mine wouldn’t - they seem to consider customers as some sort of cross to bear.

You can certainly buy 18" alloys and tyres and keep your 19's for resale. That will be your only option I think.
