About to buy 2020 superb 2.0 TSI sportline plus DSG

Featured Replies

Hi

Looking at the above car from a non Skoda dealership because its the model i fancy and is within budget. The car has 56k miles and was registered in November 2020. have discovered before purchasing that it has an outstanding recall. The dealership have advised they are going to get this sorted before they sell me the car but I was wondering what other checks i should be making with them? The car is currently at a branch quite far from me so they will be transporting it to a local branch where I will be able to test drive. i have taken an optional 2 year warranty from them as i am a bit wary of having to shell out for gearbox repairs.

i have asked them to confirm the following but wondering if there is anything i have missed out ...

  • service history of this car as I am interested to know if it's had the oil changes etc at the recommended intervals and I am also wondering when this car is due a cam/timing belt change?
  •
  • Confirm all the electronics are working including Cruise Control, DSG mode selects, DSG paddles, heated seats and steering wheel.& the sound system?
  •
  • Are the tyres in good condition?
  •
  • is the steering wheel perfectly straight when driving forward and is there any pulling to the side when hands are off wheel?
  •
  • Is the Air Con fully gassed?
  •
  • Does this car use AdBlue and if so is it full?

Any advice or feedback welcome.

thanks

Welcome.

Is it a SKODA APPROVED USED CAR?

The RIGOROUS CHECKS SHOULD BE DONE.

For the Warranty they are putting on it.

The CAR SERVICED TO THE MANUFACTURERS GUIDELINES, RECOMMENDATIONS, SCHEDULES or SPECIFICATION.

EDIT.

I see you have taken the optional 2 year warranty.  What were you getting, only 12 months?

Which recall?  ask,

Engine Cover, DSG mat Recall or both or something else?

AdBlue is for diesels not petrols.

If it has a cambelt VW / Skoda changed the Replacement to 180,000 miles / 15 years if people want to go that long.

It is a timing chain is it not!

HALDEX / AWD Service, @ 3 years / 30,000 miles.

For DQ381,s the DSG Service is at 80,000 miles, or sooner if someone wants.

Oil change intervals are Variable @ 18,000-20,000 miles / 24 months unless changed to Fixed & 9,400 miles, 12 months.

Spark plugs are due replacing at 4 years or 40,000 miles.

Pollen Filter every 2 years or sooner.

Air Filter supposedly at 6 years.  Should be inspected at each service and replaced when required.

Brake fluid at 3 years then each 2 years.

Hi

thanks for the reply. Its not Skoda approved used - they seem to be a bit out of my price range by about 5k as far as i can see.

The recall is, i believe, relating to the heat shield between brake cylynder and exhaust or something like that. i was unable to confirm this as i dont have the VIN but the dealer has confirmed.

No problems then.

The Technician opening the bonnet to see the car arriving from where ever is A1 can move their eyes to where the heat mat should be.

Then fit the upgrade if required.

?

Which dealership group is moving it from one place to another? Where are you in the country?

Get the Service history certificate.

Get the history of any Warranty Work, Service Campaign work etc.   Ask as many questions as come to mind.  They charge a premium for Approved Used Cars.

The car should be finished to a high standard.

Correctly serviced....

@Gaz posted this earlier in the About to buy a Skoda section.

Very handy to have.

Be sure they are doing as they should.  Not just expecting where it came from to have done.

Thanks for the info. So this is from Arnold Clark so it's not approved used. It's £17500 for a 20 plate with 59k miles so seems like a good deal on paper but currently not sure what the service history is etc. I have asked about it but haven't been given an answer yet.

Sadly ARNOLD CLARK is an issue only too often.     Can you say where it is now, as in which part of the UK?

So not a SKODA APPROVED CAR.   So what is missing in the service history that stopped it being one?

Maybe best leave someone else to touch it with their barge pole.

The 2.0TSI 190  is a cracking engine and suits the Superb well. Its very responsive and quiet ,
