  • Hello, I got my car back from the workshop today. Can confirm that only the display unit (5E3919605) got replaced under warranty. The previous display unit was hardware H47, now the new one is H49.

Hello my vehicle is a 2020 model.

I had the same problem.

The service asked for a very high price because the goodwill guarantee was over.

This sound increase problem is caused by the multimedia touch sound and opening panel. I removed the panel while the screen was open and removed the socket on this touch panel. Right now the sound is only playing from the steering wheel. Multimedia is also automatically opened when the vehicle is opened.

No more automatic volume increase and automatic opening

Hello, Since the vehicle's 2020 model warranty has expired, I removed the film cable of the multimedia touch sound bar. No problem left. The problem of opening and closing when locked is also gone. 👍

That's great to hear. So, you can still use the system as normal, apart from turning it on at the screen and controlling the volume? All other buttons still work?

problem solved. I was controlling the volume button from the steering wheel 👍

Since the issue occurs now day and night due to our heatwave in the UK, I'm very tempted to disconnect the on/off-volume slider as suggested in a previous post. However, I can't seem to find instructions for removing the screen. Anyone got any links?

Cheers,

Peter

Hello, I removed the connection cable socket of the multimedia sound touch bar. I only control the sound from the steering wheel.

Yes, but how do you get to it? I can't find out how to open it.

Thanks. I got the front panel off but I can't get the panel behind the screen off. Is there a trick?

I dismantled it using these tools,

When you unplug the connection cable, make sure multimedia is open, the on button will be disabled.

Nearly there now. Just the screws around the plugs are really tight. Need to get the right screwdriver.

You said to make sure multimedia is open when unplugging the on/off button. So, do I need to leave the metal cover off, like in your picture? There is no way to have the cover on, multimedia open and still be able to access the on/off connector.

remove the vedas in these pictures, the metal protection should be released, while the power cable is connected, remove the audio socket. then check.

I have the ignition on and the infotainment system is also on. As soon as I disconnect the connector (marked with an arrow inside the circle), the screen goes blank. Did I miss a step?

There were also those who cut the metal protection. Those who cut the area in the picture and removed the socket. Try that and see.

Thanks, but that's just the same connector. I see you got the picture from mototeam.com.ua. Could you please send the direct link or links? Maybe I can find some additional info.

Many thanks for your help so far.

do the same for the power socket, (black socket)I regretted not taking any videos or pictures while repairing the multimedia, I don't want to open it or disassemble it again. My wife uses it actively during the day, but I tried to help you with the pictures I found. If I find a suitable time, I promise I will take a video.

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean. I had the blue and black plugs connected to the infotainment system. The screen was on and the radio playing. As soon as I disconnect the marked flat connector, the screen goes black.

I will re-record a video for you at a convenient time and send it to you. But I don't know when I will send it.

Interesting that you also get it when it's not hot. Was it sunny but not hot outside? It could just be the sun was enough to heat up the inside of the car.

It started for me as well again this year after months of no problems. I wrote to Skoda HQ again, but as usual they just say to book it in. I even pointed out to them that the same thing is happening worldwide and that they should be able to see that in their data but they ignored it.

I am hoping that someone here has figured this out by now. Maybe a certain setting in the infotainment system triggers it?

This happened to me too. I had the display restarting while driving, turning itself on and off, pausing and resuming music, and also turning itself on and off while car is locked. I had various theories about the culprit like high temperatures, bluetooth, wifi, android auto... But eventually I dismissed them all.

Quite interesting that the first time I had this problem was in July last year and it lasted for few days and resolved itself somehow. I literally did nothing. After that I had zero problems up until June 2025. when it started all over again. I went to the dealer two two times and they updated the fw twice. And this did not help at all.

Again, problem eventually solved on its own after about a week or so. I recorded many videos of this crazy display behavior and sent them to the dealer and they said they will try to contact the factory for advice. Never heard from them after that. But fortunately now the problem is gone. Well at least for another year I hope.

My guess is that this has something to do with their servers. Something triggers this online. I find it unlikely that displays just somehow starts acting crazy once a year or so and then it just repairs itself... But it's still infuriating that they still have no clue what's causing this after so many owners reported it...

I could have written the same post.

June July every year, then fine with no interventions until next year.

...and Skoda just don't want to know or admit ever having seen it before. "Book it in for diagnostics" - despite me saying that nothing will show up in it. Out of warranty that's a costly exercise and when they eventually agree to replace the screen then that's over £1000 as far as I know.

Well, I had another go at disconnecting the flat cable as suggested earlier in this post. I had both, the black and blue plugs connected and the radio was on (not sure if the ignition was also on). I then disconnected the flat cable shown in the picture of the earlier post and this time the screen stayed on. So, when I lock the car, the screen goes off. When I unlock the car and turn the ignition on, the screen also comes on. The On/Off button underneath the screen is now inactive and so is the volume slider. The volume can still be controlled from the steering wheel. Since I never really used these (now inactive) controls, I won't miss them.

The car is now sitting in full sun on the drive and at this stage I'm quite confident that this is now finally the end of endless infotainment reboots and full volume radio when the car is locked.

Many thanks @omeromeryigit for your suggestions!
