Looking to get a Stage 1 tune on my mk2 Fabia vRS (CTHE)

Featured Replies

Hi,

Been an avid reader of the forum.

I've had my mk2 Fabia vRS (CTHE) for 1.5 years now, been thinking of getting a Stage 1 tune on it).

It's done about 87k km, has no issues with the engine or the DSG so far, no oil consumption as well.

Been serviced regularly at 7k-8k km intervals, belt, spark plugs & DSG oil change done at 60k km.

i wasn't able to find any tuner in my region (UAE) who has tuned this specific model ever.

However, found a few tuners who say they can tune it, do you think i should get it done?

below are expected gains / numbers, also has anyone here had a tune from Morendi, they 're Lithuania based apparently.

Morendi Stage 1 - https://morendi.lt/product-category/chip-tuning/skoda/fabia/2007-2014/

    BEFORE    AFTER    RESULT
Power (hp)    180    200    + 20
Torque (Nm)    250    300    + 50

Revo Stage 1

Power Torque
Stock 180ps  184lbft
REVO Stage 1 Software from 200ps to 220ps  from 204lbft to 214lbft

Would appreciate any help or guidance on the same.

@farazvRS It is a timing chain.

Was it the 2 belts you had changed that are usually done when the water pump is replaced?

I would not let them near it.

Your issue was the REVO Stage 1 remap as they had for the CAVE engine and opening the ECU was rubbish and too aggressive.  Compared to the APR.        So are you running 98 ron or more unleaded.  Have you ab upgraded Air Filter / air intake as was used in the Polo GTI were you are.  Battery moved to boot.  Already in boot with the GTI.     ? What spark plugs did you fit. And did the DQ200 DSG get if needed the software update 34H5.  Done from 2017 on some 2013-2015 .    PS.  Was it both oils changed in the DSG.

I've just changed the drive belt, the water pump is still the original one, and so is the belt on that

I use 98 ron diligently.

No other mods, stock air filter, factory battery location.

I'm running Bosch spark plugs since the past 30k km have a set of NGKs which I'm looking to swap, (it had the original VW plugs in it when I bought it at 56k km, and they were pretty good, no deposits or burns.

The DSG has the software update done, verified it with the Skoda dealer here.

And yes both the oils were changed for the DSG.

So do u say the REVO stage 1 on the CTHE is ok?

The REVO Stage 1 was rubbish with a CAVE engine and REVO were not advising to have it after a while.

I tried it just to see on my own car to compare with APR because a friend was thinking on being a REVO Authorised Dealer.

It was crap compared to the switchable APR map i had before and went back to.

I have no idea what they wrote for CTHE engines once they were able to unlock the ECU and not open up the ECU.

Maybe someone here had a REVO remap on a CTHE.

Thank you for the help @Ootohere,  I've been reading these for the past year and a half, let me go through all these posts again, may help me decide which route to take.

I doubt it, if you've already wasted eighteen months trying to arrive at a conclusion this load of old guff won't make any difference, twinchargers are unreliable and the DSG gearbox is even worse.

I wouldn't touch it if it's working ok, if you wanna go faster then buy a different car!

His has lasted, and so has his DSG.

Many have and benefited from a Remap and different consumables.

Many are still running 14 years on, or 12 years on with a CTHE original engines and DSG,s and a remap.

I mean I've been enjoying it stock for the past 18 months,

it's been a daily driver actually, put around 30k km in the time I've had it.

I've  just been thinking about the stage 1 remap  this past week since visiting one of the tuners, saw a MK3 Octavia vRS getting tuned, thought it would be a little bit more fun.

PS: I do have another car that scratches the horsepower itch.

If it's a daily I definitely wouldn't, but as ever it's your money and your risk, for some reason @Ootohere is always trying to persuade people to do whatever he wants them to do, he has some kind of guru complex with twinchargers and craves the attention whereas I come from a more general tuning background and these engines and gearboxes have a deserved reputation for fragility. Your call.

@sepulchrave  I am trying to persuade nobody to do anything just trying to help them be aware of stuff.

Just like you do by telling them how crap the twinchargers are.  Some certainly are.  But then 3 out of 4 apparently are not.

So finally took the plunge and got a stage 1 tune (from Morendi Tuning) on a completely stock car (except for a dv+), could feel the difference straightaway.

Been driving for 2 weeks now and love the way it responds, feels a little more eager now (not that it wasn't earlier😜).

The tech who worked only car was really helpful, and performed prechecks (DSG, clutch, spark plugs, timing chain, etc.) to ensure there are no issues currently.

Yet to do a dyno run, will have that booked in during the coming weeks.

Overall, glad i got the tune.

Thanks for all the help guys.

I'm currently requesting quotes for my 1.4 TSI 2013 CTHE to have a Stage 1 remap of both ECU and DSG in the UK.

Also to upgrade the:

High flow downpipe,

K&N air intake,

Iridium spark plugs,

Diverter valve,

Swirl flap delete

I haven't had any replies as yet.

If anybody can recommend a place nearby Northampton then please either reply here or DM me.
