3 karoq - awaiting delivery what's the issue?

Featured Replies

So this is my 3rd karoq - and second sportline model - getting the red one this time!

So i was due to get it this Friday 07/06 - but got called last night to say they don't know when i'll get it - its in the garage - apparently Skoda/VW have stopped all deliveries due to some software thingy? - No one knows when it will be resolved - anyone know more about this?

I suppose it will have to be something around the MY24 build spec changes?

Lane Assists/Speed recognition etc?

Its a right roayal pain in the arse - i have changed my insurance - organised GAP insurance - god that took ages to sort due to lots of people no longer doing it -due to FCA ruling. I really not going to pay to change it all back again - I got fleeced by insurance on the car change - from same car to same car (but newer) - extra 86 quid till Nov'24 with ESure. - rip off

There's the mandatory speed system that needs to be implemented on all new cars from July.

But it's not July yet.

i think i selected the package that does variable cruise control - is that not the same thing?

@yosser65   Ask the Dealer Principal to tell you please what actually is the issue, software or other delaying the car.

Just incase it is them or VW / Skoda holding back First Registrations or something for Fleet C02 emissions.

If it is really software then so be it.    They dropped Das Auto and changed to Honesty Matters.

I’m in the same predicament, vehicle arrived 23 May and dealer been very quiet until today - can’t have delivery now until at least 25 June - no variable cruise on ours……

For 2024 changes to every Karoq spec was made so they have the correct technology for the forthcoming legislation.

But even if they are awaiting a software update I can't see why that affects cars registered before 7th July so we may be barking up the wrong tree reqarding delays.

It’s a poor show this, just got off the phone to the dealer and they insist the reason for the ‘stop’ order has come from the factory but they claim the details as to why / what is as yet not disclosed - given the tendency for dealers to be economical with the truth I don’t know what to believe.

Either way, whatever it is must be considered serious as to not let the vehicles out?

Just the same old Skoda Secret Service, need to know, loose lips cost lives crap like with Service Campaigns, Recall Actions etc and Customers / Owners are those with no need to know.

Truth of the matter is usually the person spoken to know jack sh!t about anything and nobody bothers telling them.

There's a couple of things going on with VW Group in the US - some cars (although I think it's just ID models) are being held pending a software fix to stop the dash and rear view camera screens blanking as that makes the vehicles illegal to use.

There's also cars, I think more 'premium' VW brands, stuck at Customs as they've got some electronic part linked to allegations of forced labour in Xinjiang.

Nope mines a 2.0 TDI - always like my diesels

That kills that theory then.

I read on a Facebook group that someone had their Koroq delayed. When they asked the dealer the dealer stated there was a software issue on 1.5DSG's.

Diesels are an issue for Skoda /VW group and they need to control first registration for the UK fleet average emissions.  Control first registration maybe even by the quarter or half year. ?   Are the cars being held up already first registered in June?

the dealer tells me - he now has a list of impacted chassis numbers and is going thru it to see if mines affected

More untruths from my dealer then - I was told it was just 1.5 DSGs…!

Have they offered a loaner while you’re waiting on your car?

That would have taken about 2 minutes, to walk to parking place, look at VIN number bottom of windscreen and compare it to list of numbers either on print out or listed on screen of tablet etc.

So did dealer call back few minutes later with yes/no ?

I can’t imagine they did - my dealer is following the party line and making all the right sympathetic noises whilst giving nothing away - currently distracting me with some mealy mouthed words about trying to ‘sort something out’ on account of me selling my existing vehicle to WBAC early last week to coincide with the new delivery.

Given my recent protracted new battery warranty claim and now this, Skoda must have the dealers on tight leash?

sO - NO THEY HAVENT CALLED ME BACK AND i AGREE WITH Berisford - they seem to not be giving anything away.

No return call

No offer of loaner - i still have my part ex - but basically ended my insurance on it so cant drive it now as shifted every over to new car - which i dont have yet!

So its just a pain - and in limbo - wish i could get a clearer understanding of the issue/problem

apparently Skoda wont let them register it on their systems yet

The cars must be on the SKODA UK System.  They are the importer.

So the cars are delivered to the Dealerships and not paid for SKODA / UK who own them.

?

Are they First Registered yet, or had a PDI or the car cars sitting waiting for this?

I was told my vehicle is at the dealership but can't be registered yet so perhaps there is something in the 'holding back' to level up emissions quotas theory?

Either way, I'm well narked having sold my car last week expecting to take delivery - I suspect the problem (whatever it is) has been known longer than Skoda and the dealer are letting on - my car was at the UK dock and allegedly to be transported on the 23rd - then nothing, not even a choice of registration numbers, until the bad news on Thursday afternoon last, the 6th.

I've not called the dealer today, my wife won't let me, bad for my well being she says!

I doubt very much whether you will be given a choice of numbers. I have bought 10 new cars since 2000, and only once, in 2003, did I have any choice.

@Routemaster1461  i have only once not been able to choose a registration number from a Dealers List of allocated numbers with new cars and that was last August and because the car was in the showroom as a demonstrator and had been PDI,d in June and already had a reg number (no plates on the car) but the sales lady had not let on about that to me and said HQ allocated them.
