Hole under rear bumper.

Featured Replies

Got a brand new 242 Superb hatch today and noticed a hold under the rear bumper. Dealer check other superbs and said they all have it and must be normal. Is this really the case? Hole would be big enough for an animal to get into.

Does anyone else that has the latest Super model have this? Thanks

Does the car have tow bar preparation?  As that looks decidedly like a tow bar cut out...

It shouldn't and its defiantly not been cut. The car is brand new, that would make sense for a tow bar. But if you don't have one, it's seems quite poor of skoda to just leave a big hole, big enough for a cat to get into.

On all, but the lowest spec of the models they have "tow bar preparation" included. This is probably the reason for it.

It just looks like a premade hole for the tow bar.

?

So should a clip on / clip off plastic panel be on as a cover until a towbar is required.

At the factory or in with the other bits that get put on the cars at a PDI, or should be?

Certainly looks like it has the facility to take a cover...

Every holes a goal.

I picked up my Mk4 on Saturday and it too has the 'hole'.  I agree, it's a bit short-sighted not to provide a closure when a tow bar is not fitted.  Surely it's not an expensive job to design and produce a simple plastic moulding.

Agree, it's a rubbish oversight by Skoda. Have a complaint in with Skoda corporate. Complain to the dealer and corporate.

You will need to convince lots of other people to do so for VAG to take any notice, they have become over-run by wokery and cat activists!

Picked up ours on Friday and yes it has the same hole

Rather than wait for any action from Skoda to provide a cover, I would close the hole with some decent Duck tape.

It looks to inviting for a cat to climb into. Meeow!

Skoda officially responded and said it's supposed to be that way and my dissatisfaction has been noted. Kind of stumped from that response.

It needs a cover, otherwise being under the rear bumber it's going to get very wet and dirty inside, which can't be good!

I'm waiting for my new Superb to land (it should have been a fortnight ago). I have specced the folding towbar which is

what the hole is for. I still intend to cover the hole with a 3Dprinted part or some decent ducktape to keep the crap  out.

Preaching to the choir, say it to the dealer when you take delivery and lodge an issue with Skoda corporate. If enough complain hopefully they'll do something about it.
