Amundsen sat navin a 2017 yeti

Featured Replies

Hi

Can somebody please help my Amundsen sat nav seems to be not picking up a satellite signal it's the one with a double sd card holder ,  it's got me 15 miles from home in a field lol.

Is there a way I can check on screen to see if I'm receiving a signal .

Thanks

Usually caused by water getting into the aerial.

We had that on our Yeti (2016.) Dealer didnt believe us until we took them for a drive to the north of Glasgow, then set a route back to the dealership, it neither took us back (about 2 miles away,) but also said we had been driving up the Clyde for at least the final 1/2 mile (I know it rains a lot on the west coast of Scotland, but its not that bad.) Dealer either replaced a module or the whole unit (never touched the antenna) cant remember which but it has been ok for the last 4 years. 🤞

Thanks for that but don't help as I've had it away to get the touch screen repaired not sure if they have caused the problem or the aerial has now failed  , just need to know if there is a secret menu to check for satellite reception.

Er, that's what I said above. The Octavia owner read the handbook and found out if and how many satellites it could see...

Not sure which model of admundsen you have, but this reply on another thread may help? (Click on the "11 April, 2021")

Hi

It's a 2017 yeti it does not have a map button only a NAV one

Ok, last time I'm going to ask.

Have you read the owners manual on satellite reception?🤔

Amundsen2 Owners Manual Page 47

The unit uses the GPS (Global Positioning System) satellite signal for route guidance.

Outside the range of the GPS satellite signal (e.g. in dense vegetation, in tun- nels, parking garages, etc.), the unit navigates only with restrictions using some on-vehicle sensors (such as speed sensor or steering angle sensor).

The unit offers the possibility to show in the split screen display the following Position » Fig. 32 on page 48 information about the current geographical po- sition of the vehicle and the satellite signal.

 Geographical longitude
 Geographical latitude
 elevation
 Number of received/available satellites

To view the information on the longitude and latitude of the current vehicle position display requires the reception of GPS signals from at least three satel- lites.

To view the elevation information of the current vehicle position display re- quires the reception of GPS signals from at least five satellites.

(sorry, text has shrunk)   The four boxes above are actually icons in the manual

GLong is a solid globe

GLat is a striped globe

e is a mountain profile

N is a satellite dish

Press in the Navigation menu the function key   Split screen.   the icon shown in the manual is like a map with an eye in the lower left corner

The split screen can also be switched off by operating the  function key.   the icon shown is an X

I've read it that many times I could recite it to you lol

What happens if you click on the drop down arrow (I've circled in red)?

All sorted now blue plug was miniscule not connecting to receiver

So not plugged in properly after you'd put the Amundsen back in after its screen repair ?😉 (My SD card wouldn't work at first after I replaced the screen myself because it wasn't quite seated).
