I did the conversion 5 months ago and the screen was 240 euros. I bought it from rrr.lt and I recommend you do so, bought several parts after that and all were ok and they were very cheap. After that all you need is a FULL SIZE SD CARD. Do NOT use microSD with adapter as I tried for the first time as I f*cked up the gracenote and had to reinstall it after. Good luck!

If you need more info I can help you

@JR RS how did you find out which color of the trim piece was the right one? i think mine is brushed metal like yours, but glossy anthracite sounds so similar, i can't find any good pictures to compare online... i got a Super Style MY2016

And you wrote about taking the 3V2858418E NH1 but ended up with 3V2858418F NH1, is there a reason for that? searching online only the E is available

I bought the trim off the wreckers, based on the colour/finish.

Mine was definitely Brushed Silver.

Wasn't looking at the part number specifically as it was confusing, as ur finding out.

Hey, firstly thank you for making this guide. Its really hard to find anything about this upgrade online. I tried it on my Passat B8 MY17. Did all the steps but somehow once i confirmed the installation the percentage jumped to 100%, screen went back to setting and became very laggy, it rebooted and now once i start up the unit im stuck at VW logo on boot. Any ideas please ?

Glad to hear the guide was helpful.

With regards to the issues ur having - did u use the VW firmware for ur Passat?

Cause the Skoda firmware is different.

Many have followed the same or similar instructions with success.

The guide I created was that based on mib-solutions and Github.

Naah i used VW one, version 1367 or something with AIO. Been extra careful with all the steps, not sure what went wrong. Im thinking of maybe faulty SD card but i did format it twice, double checked the format too, ive used it for map updates in the past without an issue. Maybe should have just gotten a new one. Just cant get it from a boot screen, after few mins it reboots again on its own and get stuck again. Camera for reversing seemed to work however. Left the unit at some local MIB specialist so im interested to see what happend but hopefully its not bricked completely.

Fingers crossed they can sort it out n recover it.

SD-card could b a potential culprit, but it's hard to b sure.

Hopefully good news for u soon.

Dragging this up, was looking for firmware updates and came across your thread. How did you get the performance details on yours?

I have the MIB2.5 I believe from factory but do't have this, do you need to have it in sport mode, not individual?

@JR RS im currently preparing to make the upgrade to mib2.5, reading the instructions you created looks pretty straight forward, thanks for detailed guide. I hope everything will go smooth and wiill work😁

Currently waiting for display to be delivered

Not to worry now @JR RS I used your manual and upgraded the firmware on my MIB2.5 unit, went from 1163 to 1440 so a nice jump and also the Sport function is there now.

Also for anyone else I was able to do this via a USB Stick, didn't like it via the Settings - System Information and then Update, had to do it via the maintenance mode

@tombee - good to hear it worked out.

I was about to reply saying that it was part of the AIO firmware.

@Kosin - all the best with the upgrade.

I didn't edit anything during my conversion. I downloaded and installed the firmware, skipped one part, and everything was done.

Just has the SOS Emergency call restricted. Workshop error message now, which appeared almost straight away when doing the update

The error in the OCU is normal when making changes to the 5F module, such as firmware updates. The OCU and 5F module work closely together. The OCU operates on the same principle as the airbag system: once an error is reported with a warning light/visually active fault, it can only be cleared using a diagnostic system.

Was able to sort it in the end with the restart of the headunit

I didn't change the main/head unit in the glovebox.

That's the whole point of this AIO firmware upgrade - upgrade headunit + change screen.

So by only update software you change mib 2 to mib 2.5 I'm right? I thought we have to buy main unit so it looks easier then.
