I have no reason to believe otherwise, however, I am NOT an expert so you may want to consider further advice before going ahead. But I CAN confirm that you can update to 1985 straight from 1896, no need to go to 1941 or 1969 first.

So you can install 1985 without problems when you know how

For the navigation license and some modifications made with obdeleven, I will not lose it if I do this update

No you don't lose codification

Big tanks for the update! I have done and everything went perfectly! I am thinking about whether an factory reset after update is worth or not. What do yout think about it?

It shouldn't make any difference. If it works well then the old adage "If it ain't broke, don't fix" applies.

I think a factory reset isn't such a bad idea, it takes 10 minutes by the time you have logged back in and re-done the two key fobs routine to become Primary user gains but, after that, settings such as electric seat position etc download from the cloud - you may have to change Lauras voice from the default male voice setting.

Also update went normal without any issues, after it, I only noticed that radio station logos for some radiostations that I had in favorite list were missing. And as i understand this will be new adventure to sort out :)

I think that the system will download the logos, but they're downloadable from various sources including the Skoda Update Portal.

Tnx for reply...

I have download package for my country from skoda portal, no luck, because there is no uploading logo from external media. Also from this forum the whole db latest version 1.30.50 , but infotaiment dont give any message Start to update.
(i have usb c which is ExFAT and with 7-zip unpacked, i mean conditions as they should be)
As I understand if radio dont download logo over DAB/RDS info...no chance to make the infotaiment do it anyhow...also limited function from prior mib-s
mine is 5E3035816K

just as info for other users to know if they loose some logo, after update, that its not big deal...and i also belive that they will appear or because of radio station, or some OTA...

Any release notes so that we know what has changed?

Had 2 OTA App updates this week since installing 1985 and updating maps to 23/12. Then today, about 80 miles into a 90 mile trip, Android Auto navigation dropped out (just a black screen) I could still get on to the home page at that point but then everything stopped working. The radio was still playing but I couldn't adjust the volume or anything, and then when I ended my journey and parked up, the radio wouldn't turn off at all at first when I locked up. Only after reopening, turning on and then turning off again did everything go off as it should. I'm coming up to 6 weeks into my Octavia ownership (21 plate SEL) add this is the first real issue I've experienced. Anyone else had something similar?

This to me says that you should apply the old adage. "If it ain't broke, don't fix".

I've got it in the car on a USB stick, but am I going to apply it? NO.

For the simple reason my infotainment system is working perfectly well and I've had enough of the wretched thing going screwy over the last few months.

My last day on 1896 I got the parking sensors warning amongst other things (all of which are mentioned on here) so I updated. Everything was working perfectly (except KESSY) until today, I applied the 2nd of the 2 OTA updates I've had since installing 1985 the day before yesterday...

Just travelled 90 miles back home without an issue so who knows? I've been meaning to perform a factory reset since applying 1985 so I'll probably try and get that done over the weekend. Hopefully that'll sort it, but will have to wait and see...

I would have done it incrementally, 1896, 1941, 1969, 1985, it would have taken longer but it would be less likely to throw up random/spurious faults like several people have experienced.

I had black screen scenario out of nowhere during driving with iphone carplay connected on sw 1941.
But my and your issue i would put in expected to happen, not because of new sw, but as “normal” 10% possibility to have some weird issue because the system itself is far from perfect and stable. On 1985 I have expirienced no radio logos for some radios that had logo, and two times during car startup it said on two second Choose main user/profile, but its only one main user anyhow and even if this message appear, the setup of infotaiment was correct layout for main user.

I did it on the back of advice from a VAG software specialist mate, he said no need to do other updates first as that's what I planned on doing

Fairdo's

updated from 1941 with engine running no issues with install

Updated with running engine as well no issues all fine. And no faults like other here I don't know what's going wrong then.

My fault only initiated a couple of days after installing the second of two OTA updates since upgrading to 1985. Although that's not to say it was in any way connected to the upgrade, it's just the first time I've experienced the issue, I'm a relatively new Skoda owner

New Skoda owner too had this two updates as well but no faults or issues. This is the third update that I did manually. But I have read that a lot of user have issues after updating also the firmware over the air strange behaviour
