I'm driving a 2022 Octavia with infotainment software version 1985, and I've noticed that wireless Apple CarPlay consistently disconnects at the same locations during my daily commute. Has anyone experienced this or found a fix for this annoying issue?
My iPhone is running the latest iOS version. I've removed and re-paired it with my Octavia several times, rebooted the infotainment, but that hasn’t solved the problem. It seems like there might be some interference at those specific spots - possibly overlapping Wi-Fi channels or other signals disrupting the connection.

That’s odd. I’ve never experienced that.

You mention it’s on your daily commute. Is both out and back? Are you passing know radio establishments (such as military listening stations)?

Another thought, is your commute at the same time (could it be a schedule thing rather than interference)?

I’m passing by a gas station and a shopping center, so nothing unusual. This happens whenever I go back and forth, regardless of the time of day.

There are also several places in the city where this happens whenever I drive by. It’s so common and frequent that it’s starting to get annoying to me. It’s definitely location-specific, as I’m not able to replicate it at home.

Wireless Apple CarPlay uses Bluetooth and a closed wifi network to operate. The issue is likely to be with your phone rather than the car. You could try the tip below to see if it helps.

I finally figured it out! Go to WiFi settings and change the ask to join networks to “off”

also, change auto join hotspot to “never”

it hasn’t drop out since!!!

Thanks, I’ll try that and report back.

I followed the instructions and turned off everything as instructed. Today, I did the drive, but the wireless CarPlay disconnected, which has been happening for the past several months. Yeah, the “fix” didn’t work. 🙁

Have the same problem and it started with the upgrade 18.3 or 18.2.

Therefore I don’t think that it’s an isaue related to skoda. It must be carplay

Update: I've filed a bug report with Apple and the system shows they've received "less than 10" similar reports, so I encourage you to do the same.

I had the same issue for several months in my previous Octavia and my current Octavia running Android Auto.

This is a residential location that I would pass at least 3-4 times per week.
For the first 2.5 years of owning the first car, I would pass this point without issue. Then for the last 6 months of the first car and the first 3 months of the second car, the connection would drop for a couple of seconds and reconnect always at exactly the same spot. I then had cause to approach this area from a road from the opposite side to how I would normally and it did the same. Then it suddenly stopped.

I put it down to someone having a rogue bit of IT kit that was affecting the wi-fi connection from the phone to the car, or someone intentionally had a signal blocker in one of the houses in the location.

Fortunately, it stopped without me having to dig any deeper.
