21 Plate Kamiq 1.0 TSI Clutch Pedal Manual

Featured Replies

Has anyone had any problems with the clutch pedal just travelling to the floor with no resistance when the pedal is pressed very gently and slowly, but acts normally when pressed normally.

Now before you all ask if there is a leak in the system there isn’t, and I mean categorically there isn’t a leak, I’ve had the problem for 4-5 weeks in that time I’ve travelled to the south of France with a caravan in tow and the fluid in the master cylinder is still at the same level, 3000 miles.

Just because you can't see a leak that does not mean that fluid is not passing one of the piston seals. You'd only need a tiny amount to be doing this for the symptom you have mentioned. Rapid release of the pedal might even suck the fluid back into the system.

And it would show up by a drop in the brake master reservoir, it has been doing it for well over 4000 miles.

If it sucked the fluid back into the system it would also suck in air as well.

It is possible for fluid to leak past a master cylinder with no leak as it has fluid both sides of the seals. It is unlikely to pass the seals in a clutch slave or brake cylinder as there is fluid one side but none on the other.

The best bet is to take it to the dealer.

That's my favourite thought, I've had it years ago on a Ford Corsair but there was no pedal at all after it happened, I was just wondering if it was a common fault. Am I correct in saying that the master cylinder is a plastic of some kind, my local MOT guy seems to think they are. I'm passed wrapping myself around the pedals on my back to have a look.

It will be going in but not to a dealer, my local guy has never let me down on anything.

Have you had a fix to this problem. I have a similar issue with 202 scala 1.0.

Not yet, as it happens its been OK since we came back from Europe, I can make it happen but only when the engine has been running foe 30 + miles and is really hot. I'll post here when I get it done.

I'd post a video of the pedel but it appers as though I would need to get it hosted else where else.
