With a DQ200 dry clutch there is oil in the MCU and oil in the box. But wet clutch the same oil does both. You need oil and pressure.

It's a dq381 2018 skoda superb not too sure if it has wet clutch

I think it does, watch this video.

they have said it has a software issue and needs to be updated or something along the lines for £500

I didn't think that ECU testing did 'Software Fixes

Any recommendations on a good company for the repair/diagnosis

DSG gearboxes? Anywhere with a TVS Engineering sticker is worth a look.

As OccyVRS suggested, TVS Engineering would be my recommendation. There are a good few franchises dotted around the UK and my experience of them is very good mainly because they take the time to explain EVERYTHING and not fob you off with vague statements and zero evidence to back it up.

Yes but now they want £502 for some software problem and they said it would take 3 days for replacement parts to arrive but I'm sure for software you wouldn't need to replace any hardware or am I wrong

I would say they want to order a new TCU board which may or may not turn up correctly programmed for your vehicle. (All this programming caper is well beyond my pay grade). If the board is Kaput, then to my mind the Mechatronic IS faulty as it's integral to the unit and its operation.

If it were only a simple software problem I would have thought a Skoda dealer could update it for less than £500.

Like I said, ECU Testing never give you the full story, I suspect because they don't want you to take it away & fix it yourself.

Hang on, OP ran a wet clutch DQ381 without oil?

As someone said, I've no idea what you're trying to do besides ruin your car. You were told it's a software issue with the MCU so what on earth are you doing running it without oil (lubrication and pressure)? The P0C2900 code is for the DSG oil pump - common guidance is after this code has come up, to completely disassemble the box to inspect for damage - funnily enough, nowhere mentions what steps to take after this code is thrown from a complete oil starvation.

No offence, but if you aren't sure if your gearbox is a wet clutch, and you're relying on a YouTube video, perhaps you're best leaving DSG work to a trained mechanic?

You're playing with fire.

Even if you are a fully trained mechanic, without some prior experience of working an DSG gearboxes, I would have personally have kept well clear of them and invested in someone who had plenty of experience,

Oh, completely. Unless they are trained and used to them, most places won't touch them with a bargepole. It took me several weeks and a few phone calls to find somewhere reputable and experienced to do my DSG service (The Phirm in Camberley, Surrey - absolutely top blokes).

To be honest, I couldn't even be bothered to comment properly -

  • OP will find that the dark oil was probably due to the (145k) filter not being replaced

  • OP will find that the gearbox oil should be warmed when filling a DSG box, among other steps

  • OP will probably find the high pressure pump is knackered, having been run dry

  • OP will find that starting the car to 'see if I fitted it right' isn't a prescribed step in a VW service bulletin

It will probably be worth keeping an eye on the other threads they've posted too -

https://www.reddit.com/r/skoda/comments/1lkazbx/possible_mechatronic_issue/

Again, I'm not sure any of this is stuff they should be doing themselves!

Hi mate, i too have developed problems with the same gearbox but with some different errors. I was recommended on this forum to use ECUTESTING, but after some research and discussing it with my VAG specialist and in their experience it's best to avoid using them due to the issues they've had in the past going down that route. I think years ago the company was alot better.

I fully trust their opinion, as they are independent VAG specialists. When factoring in all the costs, including labour, etc., having the mechantronic unit replaced directly with parts from Germany was only slightly more expensive in the scheme of things, and I will have a complete history of parts replaced in the unit.

It's clear the mechantronic unit on the DQ381 has issues, and I'm furious it's not being recalled and replaced at VWs expense.

Hi All, i'm updating where I'm at if it helps others. My VAG specialist VOLKS AUTO in Sutton ran the car through their diagnostic yesterday to come up with a parts list which allows them to order a special "repair kit for these mechantronic units " in from VW in Germany (it seems then that VW are fully aware of the issues in that they have a repair kit). This is roughly 50% the cost of a whole new unit some garages have quoted me in London.

From the sounds of it they've done quite a few of these repairs. The only issue is that it can take up to 3 weeks for the special order parts to arrive from Germany and you need to pay in advance as they're special order.

Just a quick update

Dsg mechtronic number is 0gc927711h from what I can see this doesn't have a pressue control solenoid D/4 however the 0gc927711g does have it

From vcds the hardware number for the mech is 0gc927711g however the one that was in the car was 0gc927711h

So I'm thinking the person before either put the wrong one in or the mechtronic is faulty as I've had the mech coded to the car updated flashed etc the software that was currently on it was for the 0gc927711g but the mechtronic was 0gc927711h so I even tried the software for both with no luck

As for mechtronic no one really offers warranty/returns if the mechtronic is faulty or for whatever reason it needs to returned

Now I'm at point that im either going to have to buy a full gearbox or see if i can source a mechtronic from a trusted place that accepts returns

Hi i don't really know if this is the right place to post this but I'm new to this forum here goes

Skoda superb 2017 2.0tdi fwd

Basically it had an issue with the dsg/mechtronic it would stay started in P/N but stalls in D/R so plugged snap on obd in and came up with a code p271700 pressure control solenoid "D" intermittent so I've took out the mechtronic unit and sent it off to be tested firstly they broke it during shipping they said they kinda brushed it of like its no big deal and told me its cosmetic damage secondly they told me the mechtronic is fully working today they have said it has a software issue and needs to be updated or something along the lines for £500 it looks to have the dq381 mechtronic

My question is are they trying to rip me off? Has anyone else had the same/similar problems? What could possibly be the issue?

Thanks 😊 any help at all would be appreciated 👏

Probably got the worst luck ever the data stick that has the cars specs engine code etc found it everything is readable apart from you guessed it the 3 letter gearbox code

Any suggestions on how or where i can find this gearbox box code the original gearbox seems to have been replaced
