content items count

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,

I want to direct message a user in the Bournemouth about helping me code a new battery for my Superb. However, I receive this forum error message when I try: "You are required to have at least 20 content items count before using this functionality."

I have been a member of the forum since 2016 but this is my first post. I have clicked on over 20 recent content discussions and updated my profile but receive the same error.

Does anyone know how I earn '20 content items count'?

Many thanks.

Reply to this, and a few other comments, until you have 20 posts.

You can also tag a user to get their attention by typing an @ character immediately followed by their username.

They might then send you a message.

As above, you need to have made at least 20 posts (please make them worthwhile, not just 20 posts for the sake of it) in order to unlock the direct messaging feature. It’s a measure to reduce instances of members getting spammed.

Thanks for the quick replies. The user I would like to message is @Twinpack , so I'll see if he messages me whilst I reply to other comments.

Cheers.

According to his profile, @Twinpack last visited this site over 5 years ago on 10 June 2020.

I think you might be flogging a dead horse either way @bfg101 based on that information.

Maybe we can use this post to get our messages to unlock. :D

What are you suggesting?

That we make meaningless posts and comments on this thread? ;)

Oh.

He's still listed on the VCDS owners page.

I meant that to get our messages unlock, maybe we can use this post, because this post is about unlocking messages, comment here to get our messages unlock. I think it would be better than make new meaningless post just to unlock messages. I don't mean that here are meaningless posts on this site.

It’s a shame I only have the limited vin version of vcds, otherwise I’d say travel to Hampshire and I’ll do it for you for free, but as I don’t I would charge, then the cost of fuel you’d be well out of pocket.

Have a look for independents by you, might be able to squeeze you in for some beer tokens

Thanks for the message Danoid.

It depends how much you wound charge. I've had quotes from £40 to £105.

I’d charge £40 too but if the £40 you had quoted is nearer then deffo go for that.

Whoever said £105 needs kicking 😁

Ok thanks.

Out of interest, presumably it is worth doing? ie. if it's £40 to code it and a new battery is £160, is not coding the battery going to result in over a 25% loss in battery performance/life?

The guy who said he would do it for £40, told me not to botther and take my wife out for supper. 😃

The battery is for my start-stop superb from 2016.

I don't know how good the battery mangement system was when the car was built.
