Fabia 2021 + Amundsen SatNav - Reverse Camera Upgrade Possible?

Featured Replies

I have been wondering whether the Mk3 Fabia actually came with a reverse camera as an option when it came out an whether it's possible to retrofit it in my son's Fabia, which has the factory-fitted Amundsen nav unit.

If not, is there a OEM looking aftermarket one that can be fitted and is the Amundsen nave unit capable of accepting a feed from a reverse camera?

I'm all ears and hope someone can enlighten me as to whether this is achievable.

Should be possible, pls share VIN so I can check

Don’t know whether it helps, but I fitted an ‘AliExpress special” to the Amundsen 2 in my Octavia. Works fine.

Thanks for that. Where did you fit it to? Boot handle. number plate light?

I take it that this can be connected to the Amundsen Nav unit and that it will need "coded" to the car?

Dealer or VCDS?

It came with a replacement boot handle incorporating the camera, which replaced the original. Mine didn’t need coding, it was literally plug and play, once the cable routing had been done - others have said theirs had to be coded. But note, mine is Amundsen 2, whether this makes a difference, I don’t know.

Was there a dedicated video input on the rear of the Amundsen head unit? Had a quick look on Ali-Express and have saw one where a a modified power input is used to avoid coding @ around £40. Was it similar to this or was it one with video feed cable with yellow phono-plugs?

Your Amundsen (Part umber 565 035 874) support RVC, OEM solution is part number 6V0 827 566 G:

However, you should be able to install any camera of the same shape, either LOW (as 6V0 827 566 G) or HIGH (with dynamic lines) - just pls note HIGH cameras have NEVER been officially offered for FABIA.

No, mine had a multi-cable insert into the loom behind the glove box - complete with connectors, so it was a case of just unplugging, insert the new bit, and re-connecting.

TBH, I don’t think that, while trying to help, I’m really helping, sorry.

Excellent info as always pab567

The OEM camera is available from Skoda Parts but doesn't come with the required cables as far as I can tell.

Just checked that Amundsen part number you quoted and it looks to be the one found in the glovebox with SD1 & SD2 card slots.

My son's Fabia doesn't have this unit and the map SD card is found in the right side of the glove box via a little circular cut-out.

Is there two different satnav units?

Because in Fabia only one slot is available...

Well. I managed to pick up a brand new RVC (6V0827566G), but unsure what wiring harness to get as I cannot find one listed for the Fabia MK3 in the Fabia MK3 Parts Catalogue on LLL.

Also not sure whether this will be plug and play (if I manage to locate a suitable harness) or whether it will need coded or not.

ODB11 or VCDS?

Hi @pab567 - im sorry to hijack the thread, but as a noobie im not allowed to message you privately. Im also looking to upgrade my mib1 Bolero unit (Octavia 3 RS) to the bigger mib2 Columbus, but im not quite sure where and how. Do you offer the coding and units too?

Don't look for OEM part number for harness, get aftermarket one, e.g. like this

Yes, coding is required.

Thanks for that, but not available in the UK and I keep getting blocked when I visit that website with Firefox. I did manage to get to the webpage once with Opera, but when I revisited it, I was blocked again.

Does anyone know of a UK retailer that sells these?

My 2021 LE in Australia came with reverse camera as standard Car has the Amundsen 3.0 MMI

Did you manage to find the wiring loom in the end??

I retrofit the reversing cam myself, including the plumbing for the washer, so if you need any help feel free to reach out D

Hi lewiswal47

Not yet, but have sourced most of the main parts I think.

Never did find an OEM wiring loom (is there one?) and ended up purchasing one from a Polish company Car Systems EU.

Have yet to install the RVC, so any info would be appreciated.

I definitely do need a Y connector for the washer jet,so recommendations would be appreciated.

The Y connector is - 1J0 955 873 D

The connections you need are

Female: 5J0 955 871 A

Male: 5J0 955 871 B

I usually buy my parts from LLLParts, They take a while to arrive but they’re cheap and brand new

You’ll need 4 of each, But I bought extras just incase I lost/broke some! I tried Aliexpress parts first and just, don’t bother 🤣

The only thing I did use from Aliexpress was the hose itself, It was so much cheaper;IMG_0722.jpeg

I just trimmed it as required, You can tap into the washer line in the C-Pillar on the left hand sideIMG_0724.jpeg

I would also be interested to hear which RVC you used (OEM / 3rd Party) and which wiring harness you used and whether you needed to code the RVC to the head unit?

Thanks in advance.

The camera I used was 6V0827566, and can be found here;

https://a.aliexpress.com/_EGsVXXg

it came with the wiring look, and by taking a guess this is an oem kit, i’ve tried other aliexpress rvc’s and the cameras were poor. This one’s really good.

Yeh, Coding is necessary to tell the headunit the cameras there, do you have access to OBDEleven/ VAGcom etc?
