This topic has prob been up before can I get apple car play on my Amundsen MIB1.

If not what can I do?

I love my Skoda Octavia Business 1.6. Everyone says she is outdated and that I should get a new car, but she keeps running and passing her MOT. I just need to update her multimedia system.

Please help me

MIB1 cannot do CarPlay.

The OE solution is to replace with a MIB2 Amundsen @pab567 is the resident expert on this upgrade.

So now you have Amundsen MIB1, with Bluetooth, with DAB, part number 5E0035874A, with USB 5Q0035726B and fortunately you don't have CANTON sound system.

You can install one of four different OEM glove box units:

- MIB2 Bolero

- MIB2 Amundsen

- MIB2 Columbus

- MIB2.5 Columbus

You also need to replace display unit:

- for MIB2 Bolero you can use either 6.5" model number 5E0919605H or 8" model number 5E0919605N

- for MIB2 Amundsen and MIB2 Columbus you can use listed above display as well as 6.5" model number 5E0919605J, 8" model number 5E0919606, 8" model number 5E0919605M

- for MIB2.5 Columbus the only display unit that works is 5E0919606D

If you would like to use Apple CarPlay then you also have to replace USB port.

The question is what is your budget and which of listed below features are "must have":

- Video playback from DVD, USB, SD

- CD playback

- OEM navigation

- displaying OEM maps in Virtual Cluster (Active Info Display).

All units support SmartLink (Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, MirrorLink), rear view camera, voice command. features that differ them:

- MIB2 Bolero - no OEM navigation, no CD/DVD drive, no video playback from SD/USB

- MIB2 Amundsen - OEM navigation, no CD/DVD drive, no video playback from SD/USB, support for displaying OEM maps in Active Info Display (Virtual Cluster)

- MIB2 Columbus - OEM navigation, CD/DVD drive, video playback from SD/USB, no support for displaying OEM maps in Active Info Display (Virtual Cluster)

- MIB2.5 Columbus - OEM navigation, CD/DVD drive, video playback from SD/USB, support for displaying OEM maps in Active Info Display (Virtual Cluster)

You have Amunden MIB2 with DAB, part number 5Q0035874A. You can swap display unit to 5E0919605M or 5E0919605N or 5E0919606 but in case of 5E0919605M and 5E0919605N button APP will not work unless you upgrade the firmware to 03xx or 04xx which requires unit to be patched.

Can I go to P0480T? Mibhelper says the latest official is 0253T

Official is 0253T. You can go to 0480T but it requires unit to be patched, e.g. with MIB STD2 Toolbox.

Thanks @pab567 . Although I've patched it using MIB Toolbox, I'm reading lots of people bricking their units upgrading from 02xx to 04xx so I'm nervous to do it!

Would you say there is a high risk for going to 0480T?

If properly done then the only disadvantage is that if you don't have CANTON then left and right channels are swapped.
