Tips / Tricks / Observations

Featured Replies

I've had my Elroq for a week and a half now, so still getting to grips, but figured it might be useful if anyone discovers any tips, tricks or observations.

  • Today I found out that Travel Assist won't knowingly undertake on the motorway. I was in lane 1 @70mph (clear no other cars) approaching someone in the middle lane going slower, the lane keeping/cruise control information window recognised the car in the middle lane and wouldn't get closer than the normally set cruise control distance.

  • I didn't realise that the Elroq doesn't have TPMS sensors fitted to the wheels, it uses ABS information to warn of low tyre pressures.

  • There isn't an icon that lights up on the driver information display to tell you your lights are on. You'll only see a yellow warning if the lights are turned off and the sensors recognise it's too dark out. E.g. if you turn off auto lights.

  • The rubber charging port cover is great at reducing the amount of water getting into the charge port area, this is a separate purchase though but I'd recommend it.

  • Another thing from this morning. Had to wait on the motorway for 20 minutes due to an incident. Travel assist was on and had the car stopped. After 5-10 minutes the car went into parked mode automatically. Neutral + parking brake applied. Wasn’t aware of a time limit but seems there is one.

With the colder weather I can confirm that :

  • With an Ohme Pro charger on Octopus Go. If/when the charging sessions completes, for me the cheap rate ends at 5:30. With the charging cable still connected, even if the Ohme app shows session ended, turning on the cabin pre heating will pull from the AC supply, in the app it will show conserving next to the battery status. Obviously this will cost the usual unit rate, but I was unsure if the Ohme charger would prevent the car from pulling AC out of the schedule.

Thanks for these. Is there a way to turn off the non-undertaking with acc?

My Karoq did this and it was annoying. I’m currently in an XC40 and it doesn’t do it. I’ve ordered an Elroq and was hoping Skoda had dropped that feature!

I haven’t found a way to turn this off either. I am still trying to understand when it enables, because the other week on the M60 I was in lane 1 on travel assist following a car at 50mph and it seemed to understand I was in amongst traffic at different speeds and was passing slower cars in lane 2.

I’m assuming it is “smart” enough to know when you’re in traffic.

I imagine that predictive cruise control won’t do think but you lose out on the other benefits of travel assist.

A light press on the throttle and it will pass, you just have to let it know you are happy.

It does it because it 'can' be illegal to undertake.

One thing I found useful is that your can 'sync' the 2 front seats so they are perfectly aligned (not sure if you need the Maxx pack and seat memory for it to work). I'd have bought the car just for that!

Is there any way of answering and ending a call using the steering wheel buttons and if so which one?

Only way I can see is to press the steering wheel voice control button (top left hand side) and say your command .

So I tried to solve this this morning. If you press the right hand scroll button on the steering wheel you can answer a call however, it does not allow you to end the call so you'll have to wait for the person at the other end to hang up!

It is something they could improve. Feed it back to Škoda, there is Škoda EV lounge on Facebook (which I’m not on….)

I got an email invite to join Škoda All Ears which is some kind of customer feedback panel. Improvements like this will presumably be exactly what they’re looking for.

I’m not on Facebook but I’ll get the Wife to do it.

With observations, I'm ashamed to say that having driven our 85 Edition for 11k miles over the past 9 months, I only discovered this weekend how to wash the rear view camera ☹️

Me neither and I only found out because you mentioned it. The nozzle is so small I never noticed it was there when I clean it. For anyone lurking, you need to put the car in reverse and activate the rear window washer, it will fire a jet on the camera.
