Still have fault after replacing rear boot struts - Still wont open fully and wont close at all

Featured Replies

So i jsut replaced my rear electric boot struts on Estate
I had the fault where you have to press boot open about 5 times to get the boot to open fully but when closing even though it didnt close i got the sound that it tried when pressing the close button inside boot lid

Now i have replaced the struts it still takes 5-6 times to open fully and now i dont get any sound when using the inside boot switch
So i have gone backwards after replacement?

I have obd11 and it shows no faults on boot lid?

I have tried searching both here and on google but no luck thus far.

Did you check the wiring on the original struts

I have changed the struts so the wiring is not in question since its new struts on there.

Does anyone know if there is a control module ?
Maybe that is my problem?

So that would be a no then you didn’t check the wiring in the struts.

Module 6D is the Deck Lid control module.

Did u run scan for any errors?

No errors using obd11

I tried it multiple times with bootlid open a bit and fully open etc and still no faults

I still dont understand why i should check the wires on the old struts AMD87?

I'm assuming they meant check the wiring going to the struts rather than the internal strut wiring.

To me it sounds like a damaged cable.

Internal cables inside car were all ok and still clipped in with no damage to them so it isnt a broken cable inside

What about the hinge / pivot points ?

That's the usual point of failure.

I've installed brand new ones so faulty wiring isnt the issue

The wiring just isn’t in them but sure if you think we are all wrong I’m sure you’ll be able to fix the issue in the no time….. oh wait…..

The actuator for the tailgate naturally has a wiring harness. The yellow and blue wires in these often break. If these actuators are replaced, the wiring harness in the interior also Part of the actuator.
