Can someone send me the link to v1989? Thank you.

Tried to find on the forum, but the links are broken and no longer valid.

Try to open the first link in incognito mode or different browser. It still works, I checked.

I have the same hardware as you and I went from 1896 > 1941 > 1989, if that's any help

Thanks mate

well yes and no : ) you did jump few yourself so it might be ok

I mean what's the worst if I put on USB 1985 it should update it to that no ?

The 1989 from what I red is a lottery some people experience issues and unable to factory reset so good that you are ok and

as you have same hardware have you had any issues with assigning primary user because that is my main issue which I hope updates will resolve.

I went straight from 1896 to 1985 and everything went fine

If course it's at your own risk, but I can say what I would do, from what I have read about 1989 there is no more risk then any of the other updates before and the factory reset seems to sort out everyone's issue.

Also the amount of people that seem to have moved to 1989 via this process or OTA updates, there seem to be next to no posts on here saying they have bugs or big issues, if there was bugs there would be lots of people complaining.

The main issue you may have is getting the software, as the links that work are hard to find.

My advice would be to not go crazy with the version number jump, so with the first flash get as close to your current one as you can find, then when you get up to 1941 or newer, just jump to the latest release.

With regards your issues with setting up a primary user, this will not fix that for you, but there are a ton of other stability and speed fixes, even going from 1941 to 1989 was a massive speed jump for me.

I am currently in talks with the Skoda dealer I got the car from about the primary user issue, as they are currently implying that being able to setup any user may not be an option going forward, as this may have turned this option off at the server end on older (ie cars older then 5 years).

They are looking onto this, and I am waiting to hear back, they have also clarified that software update is not covered by the Skoda used car warranty, so I could not have the car "repaired" at a local Skoda garage (they are a long way from me), but if it needs something updating, they would do it with this.

I will update in the Primary user post about this when I get a conclusion.

It's not setting up but the loading of settings wheel rolls until it says unable to load settings when adding primary user

@MonkeyBoy2283 The Skoda dealer is talking complete and utter nonsense on this point. Skoda haven't turned the feature off. Many of us had this issue and it required a software update from the dealer to resolve. I think it was the OCU that was the culprit but I can't be 100% sure as it was a few years ago I had this issue.

Ask them what version the OCU is on your car. The current version is 0311, and that has started to be pushed to some cars over the air in recent months. The previous version, 0144 was also stable. If your car is at an earlier version, then they have not updated all the modules that they are supposed to as part of the Skoda Approved Used agreement.

In fact the 0311 release notes stated that it was a required update to ensure continued online functionality going forward.

Well I'm hoping they come back and say it needs this update, as I'm 100% they did not update anything even thought I asked them to before collection.

I believe that the OTA only work if the car has a Primary user set up, so if you have an early car it does seem you are stuck in a loop, as you can't set one up without an update and you can't get an update without setting one up, as you say the only way to fix it is a manual update from them.

I'm hoping that who ever they have escalated this to "head technician" will have seen it before and asks to have the car in for an update.

@MonkeyBoy2283 OTA does work for some updates without anyone logged in. I had a loan Octavia a few years ago that was brand new. There was only a guest user present. Within hours of me driving it, it was prompting to install various app updates. Things like map updates I would say a primary user would be required as it would need to check that you were subscribed to the service first.

I would also be inclined to try another dealer. It's not good that they are making up false statements in an attempt to get out of doing the updates that should've been done before you were given the keys. If you post the area you live, then some people on here may be able to recommend a good dealer.

I had this issue with being unable to login as primary user in 2023. The symptoms were the same as what you are experiencing. It was a known issue and the dealer resolved it fairly quickly with an update.

OTA updates with the early cars are a bit of a mystery. Some forum members received them, but many didn't. My car has never received a "big" update such as infotainment or OCU. It receives app updates and map updates. I was told once the infotainment was taken to 1941 it would receive and apply the bigger updates. But it never has. The OCU has now been updated to 0311, so maybe it will going forward but I'm not hopeful.

But certainly if your car is only very early software across all modules, it will need them updated before it stands a chance of receiving anything bigger going forward.

Unfortunately it was over 18 months ago now, and I no longer have access to it

Have you checked all the links in this forum? Do a search for 1985 and it should take you to them
