Alarm keeps going off

Featured Replies

Hi all - I have a 2011 Skoda Fabia Estate Auto and love my car. However recently I have had an issue with the alarm randomly going off. The indicators are NOT flashing like they normaly would when the alarm activates and even when I unlock and relock the car the alarm continues. It even continues when I start and drive the car and then will eventually stop. Have also noticed that the alarm does not slund very loud to the point that sometimes it even isnt noticeable if you are inside the house. Is there a way to disable it completely as its such an old car and to be honest the alarm is more of a nuisance. Any advice would be most gratefully received. Its very stressful that it happens just randomly

My alarm was recently on the fritz on an ‘11 Fabia and turned out the car’s battery was on its last legs.

There is also apparently a separate battery for the alarm which can die and cause intermittent faults.

Thankyou - recently had a new car battery fitted so hoping that's not it. Is there a way to deactivate

Indeed the Alarm Siren has it's now battery which with MK2,s that came with a Service Manual showed it as to be replaced at the service year @ 5 / 50,000 miles. Plenty have lasted over the5, 10 and even 15 years. I doubt many were changed at the Service.

Folks old mk1 fabia 1.9tdi had problems with alarm going off due to failing siren battery. Local garage disabled alarm as the car was old an doubt anyone would bother stealing it. Not sure how they did it. Try hoovering the internal sensor. I think its near the interior light. If they get too dusty they can trigger the alarm randomly.

You could try and remove fuse/fuses to see if it makes a difference although not sure if the alarm also supplies cluster?
