where do you put the fuel cap when filling up?

Featured Replies

the question is the thread title.....i've not looked at the manual but where the hell do you put it. At the moment when I fill up the cap dangles on the plastic cord and knocks against the body work.

i looked to see if it clipped anywhere and havent figured it out. Gets on my nerves swinging around against the bodywork would be interested if someone knew a trick to stop this.

notice on the fuel cap there are 4 small holes.

Also notice that two of these will sit exactly over the fuel filler door ;)

Looks like a design feature even if it wasn't :)

Correct, thats where its meant to go, my brothers A2 is the same...

I shall keep my eye out next time i fill up. I knew it had to sit somewhere just couldnt work out where

I let mine dangle. I find its best that way!!!

Hi, it rest's on the top of the fuel flap. Sit's nicely until you shake the pump at the end and it knocks the bloddy thing on to the body!. Dooh.

Ahhhhhh greesy diesel pumps, a thing of the past for me :D

I used to hook in on the fuel cover as well.

Real men let it dangle

Picture stolen from another thread, a pic from Lummox:

But instead of placing it on the "inside" of the flap, place it outside, that way you wont touch it with the nozzle.

Cool, was going to be cutting the cord [ooh-er] on it and putting it on the pumps in the normal fashion :)

cool another mystery solved by the briskoda boys.

No you only have to deal with oiled up gayers trying to grab your bum when they see you in your car

The wife likes to watch it while it dangles....

For optimum filling up times, I let mine dangle :D

Pagh - good to see another rocker ;)

That's what happens with mine too! I ALWAYS knock it off.:(

I like to keep a hold of it ;)

I put it on the roof of the car or rest it on the spoiler.

Joys of having a car with no dangly bits.

I'm feeling quite smug now, I sussed the little groove holders straight away

Must be a man thing - I worked it out straight away too!

The best thing to do is to wedge it under the fuel pump filler lever, and then you don't have to hold the lever on as the car fills up. The pump switches off when the car is full. Most continental drivers do this.

The only sensible reply to this thread so far..........

Well done that man, award yourself a spoonful of Marmite as a reward:thumbup:

Why, thank you indeed.

Mmmmmmmmm, I LOVE Marmite (and Twiglets TOO!)

:munch:
