How do I reset the service reminder on a Skoda Scala built on 13/1/25 with an 8" infotainment?

Featured Replies

I have only recently joined Briskoda and I just hope someone can tell me how I reset the service reminder on a Skoda Scala Select 1 litre built on 13/1/25. The car has an 8" infotainment and only displays one dial in the instrument panel, it doesn't have a reset button near the instrument panel. The manual supplied with the car has a part no. 657012720AN Skoda Scala 11.2024 and doesn't provide any help. I have looked high and low for the answer but all of the information I have found doesn't work. The reminder has not been triggered yet as I have not hit 15,000 kms or 12 months.

So my questions are to the group are: 1) Can the service reminder be reset without and OBD2; and 2) If it can only be reset by an OBD2 which model will actually reset the reminder.

Thanks to all Quetz

First of all thanks for the clear video and I greatly appreciate your answer BUT my car does not have a mechanical instrument cluster nor does it have reset button. My cluster is all digital, has no button to reset the trip meter and most functions are handled through an 8 1/4" infotainment with some functionality through buttons on the steering wheel.

I have contacted Skoda in Australia twice and Skoda International once but have never received any emails back from them, I have tried AI and it doesn't know and OBD2 manufacturers tell me they currently don't have a model which suits my car!

Thanks Quetz

Thanks Subzero for the link, I tried it out but it didn't work even so your effort is appreciated, I am just surprised that no one seems to have an answer. I have never used a vcds but I guess if no one else has an answer I'll give it a try!

Thanks

Maybe try this? https://youtu.be/AiOpWAg18xM?si=gjYCpzT-Rr_5KwSt

If it still doesn’t work get a cheap Chinese clone vcds from ebay. It should be more than enough to reset the warning

Just a warning - you will not get any support from forum members if you do choose to use any pirated device.

I have no intention of using a pirate device I didn't even know that the device suggested by sub zero was pirate i just thought it was an honest suggestion, I'd much rather the correct OBD2 for my car but no one seems to know one that would work. So thanks Warrior193 for letting me know!!

Thanks Quetz

There is a Launch OBDII reader that will reset the service lights for sure. Costs about £130 on Amazon. Launch equipment is well regarded in the trade.

The YouTube I linked should work on all Skoda with digital dash as the electronics is very similar.

Hi Aldfort

I extensively looked into YouTube prior to posting and unfortunately none work on my Scala, I have of course tried each YouTube referred to including your offering of the Skoda Superb. The main difference between the YouTubes suggested so far (and also all the others I have tried) is that I have only one position for a dial on the digital instrument cluster and the YouTubes suggested have two dials or they have a trip meter button reset and mine does not. I will take a picture of what my dash looks like for further information and post it later.

To your suggestion of a Launch OBD2 this looks hopeful but I still need confirmation that it includes functionality for a Skoda Scala 2025 as I have tried say 5 other suppliers and they say they haven't got an update for the 2025 Scala.

Pleas note I haven't got the service reminder yet on my car and maybe it can be reset using the infotainment but I have no confirmation from the manual or Skoda. Even in the manual it gives no description on service reset except to say it prefers the dealer to undertake services, I have been successfully carrying out services on my cars over the last 50 years including 3 other Skodas and also worked for a year or two as a gearbox re-conditioner.

Even so car electricals are far more difficult these days so help from the Skoda community is helpful and wanted.

Thanks

Quetz

Take a picture of your dash and also the steering wheel.

In my 2025 Kamiq I can change the dash layout to something called "sporty" that only has a central single dial.

The manual tells you how to change the dashboard view.

Also which infortainment do you have?

Hi Aldort

I note from your pictures in your last post that they are from the better model Scala, my Scala is a Select which means it is the basic model which doesn't have Satnav and has an 8.25" infotainment. The Select doesn't have dual digital instrument clusters and you will note from my pictures the 4 options for the single dial instrument display. The only real subsystems accessed by the buttons on the RHS of the steering wheel are the various assist systems and all the YouTubes I have accessed (probably about 15 so far) have different functionality than my car's system. I had hoped it would be similar to other Skodas but even my sons 2024 Skoda Octavia has completely different system. I just hope there is someone who has knowledge of my car's sytems.

Thanks

Quetz

The buttons on the RHS of your steering wheel should do exactly the same as in the posted Octavia video.

Hi Aldfort

I tried the Octavia video a couple of times and it isn't the same as what I get on my Panel, I consulted with AI which shows that only the Kamiq (2024 and 2025) and the 2025 Scala have the 8" (actually 8.25") and none of the other models have one (see the attached picture).

I also explored your suggestion that "Launch" would probably cover the Scala 2025 and one of the main providers replied as follows"

Dear customer,

thank you for contacting us. I am your service specialist, Vivi. Please rest assured that I will do my best to assist you.

Sorry this scanner doesn’t support your car do this function . Alternatively, you can refer to the link in the attached image to check compatibility.

Should you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. We wish you a pleasant day!‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌"

I did check the link but it only covered up to 2024 Scala Models.

I appreciate your help if you have any further info it would be greatly appreciated!!

OK,

the ignition must be on engine NOT running.

Next you need to select and then scroll the driving data menu (which you have)

Next you need to scroll that sub menu to total range

Next (while in total range) you press the right hand silver knob and hold it for 10 seconds.

Now let go of the knob and then press it again, you should see the extra service options.

Sorry can't help any more.

Hi Aldfort

During all the attempts I have had the ignition on without the car running. The left and right arrow button (lower switch) only changes between the 4 instrument dial options. You can, once on a particular dial, press the silver button which then gives you a list of the type of information you display and you can scroll through options here to choose what to display which doesn't include total range and nothing seems to happen when you press and hold the silver button for 15 seconds, as a matter of fact it just either turns your data selection on or off.

In the 8.25"infotainment there is a service menu which allows you to see at how many kilometres and the date your service will trigger, my guess is a service reminder may trigger on the screen and there is a hidden screen which appears to allow for notifications to be deleted. As I mentioned in prior emails I haven't reached the service point so I am unsure whether the service reminder will be one of the items which can be deleted.

Anyway, I will keep pursuing the matter until I get an answer or can provide other owners with an answer. so thank you for the time and courtesy you have extended to me. I just hope some other user has an answer!

Kind Regards

Quetz

Ah, OK, the service reset options probably don't trigger until you get closer to the service in either time or distance.

Hi Aldfort

I don't know whether the service reset options menu appears except maybe only in the infotainment. After interrogating AI (which likes to change its answers frequently) it suggests that Skoda has decided that owners may accidentally reset the service reminders so with the 2025 Scala and the 2024-2025 Kamiq the service reminder is displayed in the service sub menu of the Infotainment but the reset option is greyed out to prevent accidental deletion.

So the simplest way it appears is to buy and OBD eleven to reset the reminder when it appears.

I love Skodas but the lack of support for owners is very frustrating!

I was looking over the weekend how to reset the service indicator on my 2022 Karoq. It seems to have similar screen images as your Scala.

I came across this Youtube video for a Kodiaq. I tried it on my Karoq and it worked. It may work on your Scala. Let us know how you get on.

Hi nbramwel

I think I've tried this particular YouTube but I will give it a go in the next couple of days and get back to you.

I really do appreciate the help people are trying to give me as sooner or later somethings got to work!

Thanks

Quetz

nbramwel you are a legend!!

Finally the answer has been revealed and it is the Skoda Kodiaq Service Light Reset procedure works for the Skoda Scala Select 2025 1 litre, I've tried about 15 other YouTubes with no success. So thanks nbramwel, Aldfort and everybody else who tried to help. The Skoda Kodiaq Service Light Reset not only works when the service light is present but it also resets the oil and service inspection when they have not been reached, this was particularly relevant to me as my car was only delivered December 2025 yet for some reason had the inspection and oil reset set to be necessary in June 2026 (6.5 months after the delivery date and the car had only 6kms as the total traveled distance.

Thanks to All

Quetz

H'mmm, so the car, for whatever reason, says service in June 2026 but you are sure you know better. Frankly I'd have serviced the car in June and had the peace of mind that I'd done things properly.

You will realise there will now be a mismatch in the cars digital (or paper) service record which you won't be able to explain. I'm pretty sure the ECU logs the service resets. This might make your life difficult in the event you need to claim under your warrantee.

Hi Aldfort

I use to be a warranty clerk at a Mitsubishi Dealership so I am reasonably across warranty, basically as long as my actions have not contributed to the fault then by Consumer Law I am covered. The only reason the warranty period was triggered was the battery for some reason had been flattened when held in storage and was recharged in June 2025, when I received the car in December 2025 the car had traveled less than 10km. I live in a hot/dry place (Australia) and the build up of moisture in such things as brake fluid and the engine oil is low and I have only traveled approximately 3,500 km so far so getting a service in 3 months time is over kill. I always maintain good service records, for example my previous Skoda Octavia I maintained for 11 years and the car was in such good conditioned when I traded it in that one of the mechanics bought the car the same day. I am a perfectionist so I prefer to do my own services and always use quality parts and fluids, if there is anything that I can't fix I am happy to pay the dealer to carry out the work.

Thanks

Quetz

So if you do your own servicing how do you ensure the vehicles electronic service record is updated? Or don't they have such things in Australia?

  • Author

Hi Aldfort

I will answer your question assuming it's an honest question and you are not being facetious. Obviously the service record isn't updated by the dealership and I will keep a manual record as I did with my Octavia. As I intend to keep the vehicle for about 10 years and I doubt it will have any real resale value so it will always be just my concern. Australia is a modern country and its dealerships have exactly the same computer facilities as most modern countries but it is a large country and I am about 1.5 hours from the dealership so popping into the dealership is a bit of a major event.

Kind Regards

Quetz
